Just watched your other vid, glad you did this update, as I was going to use a portable air con. I just didn't want to cut a hole in the side for a window unit. and I'm not putting a hole in my roof. Just purchased a 94 Coleman Destiny model that's well taken care of and I don't want to start butchering on it. I may still try a port. AC as I already have two in the house, and we live in the northern US. Thanks again for the updated vid.

Thank for the update. I bought a 2004 hybrid travel trailer and we cleaned the canvas alot. The back looks better than the front, and we are gonna buy geckos for the pop outs anyway, but i loved your video showing that it can be painted. What is the name of the color you used? Had you kept the box for the portable ac you could have returned it. Or sell it on market place. You can also use those floor fans, which aids the ac and moves air around. Your baby has gotten bigger and so cute.

Im in Queensland Australia so while a lot of your content isnt relatable camper trailers are universal so it makes total sense why this video has been the most requested. Ide be keen to know how you installed the new ac unit as i was going to buy a portable ac for my cub camper? Is the roof out/inside painted with the same paint?
@ColtenBethel
Жыл бұрын
That actually makes great sense! Sorry I didn’t take video of installing the ac unit but I just used a multi tool to cut a hole in the inside and outer part of the paneling on the camper. I do have to remove the AC while I travel. I had a portable AC unit in my camper before I do not recommend it at all. It did not work very well for my camper. The roof is painted inside and out with the exact same paint.

@@ColtenBethel Was wondering how you "seal" or close the window AC opening while in transit? Nice setup! Cheers, from PA!
@ColtenBethel
Жыл бұрын
@@love2cook532 good question! I pull the window unit out and wrap it in a thick blanket to protect it. I will then seal the hole with a thick construction plastic and tape. That is what I am currently doing but I have plans for a small wooden door that is able to be inserted in the hole. It will probably be this winter before I build that though.

Are you referring to the external lift system? More manual labor to lift, but not as heavy and no cranking 40 times to get it popped up. They are more rare and seem to be gone from Pop ups made after the 1980's. We had an 88 Palomino Pony with that system.

Thank you for commenting! The hard top roof of the camper stuck very well but the vinyl roof for the pull outs did not stick at all. I actually did not paint them because I saw how poorly the paint stuck to the vinyl on the side by the door. If I were going to try and paint the vinyl again, maybe I would use an oil based primer like kills on it but even still I’m not sure if that would work. Vinyl is a very hard surface to get paint stick to.

Do you got rain on canvas after painting or spray a lot of water on it to see the reaction? Did you get hard time to apply the paint because of water repilant on canvas? Thanks Your subject is very interesting and nice to see your family participate

Hey thanks for the comment! We have been rained on several times in the camper and it did not affect the canvas at all! As far as applying the paint to the canvas feel free to check out this video.
