I agree an extension is a back saver. We use a broom as well as a leaf blower to clean the roof of dust and debris after power washing. We also use the leaf blower to help dry it out. If anyone has any tips on how to paint both sides of a standing seam at once would be a great tip.

In 2008 I painted my conventional asphalt shingle pitched roof with elastomeric white roof paint (Home Depot: Henry brand; Lowes: Black Jack brand) using a 9" conventional paint roller on a stick and no primer. It should work as well on metal roofs. (The shingles were several years old in 2008. Don't paint without a primer first on new shingles less than 30 days old.) Am very pleased with the results. It cures leaks even before they start and cost 1/3 to 1/4 as much as a reshingle. Nine years later, it shows very little wear. It's immune from all but the most severe hailstorms, unlike unpainted asphalt shingles. It saves on cooling costs. Don't like white? Paint over the white roof paint with any exterior grade paint, in the same color as your shingles if you want. I painted the drip lip at the edge of the shingles too, with a paint brush, so precipitation touches nothing but roof paint until it hits the ground.

Quick Question? I install metal roofing as part of my business and as many know it is very expensive toinstall in the first place.so as an alternative when there is already a metal roof in place (standing seam roof) i have wanted to give the option to paint over it instead of replace. But i have NEVER seen any painted metal roofs that last very long, because of the paint not sticking. How long does this last from what you have just shown in this video? Thanks Great Video

DTM's pretty good stuff , and frankly it's not as slippery once painted on those metal roofs , but oil enamel IS going to be a harder finish .... DTM still has that slight "latex feel" to it ..... it's designed for metal wrought iron fencing really .... I would use it on a metal roof , it is good stuff and would sure lower the "slip and fall" risk for anyone walking on the metal roof if it was somewhat steep .... I've used it on metal stairs , exterior wrought iron fencing and stairs

Sorry, didn't where else to ask this. Looking at light colored metal siding, but can't find a suitable white in the factory finishes - we are looking for a cream with slight metallic sheen. Is getting bare metal siding and painting after installed crazy? We are looking at a lap siding profile, but we haven't found anyone confident in the performance of painted gavalumne or zinculmne. These "bare" metals should already be finished (no rust). Does the factory finish just look better or are other people just not so picky over color? Trying to figure out if we are clever or if others are making an informed decision and know that painting steel siding is a bad idea. Thanks.

@TheMarathonomahos
9 жыл бұрын
If it was too hot, the paint would have been drying too quickly, which will result in the paint having a "gluggy" finish. Sometimes in hot weather you need to thin it a bit more to compensate for the heat. In hot temperatures, the paint can be 30% dry by the time it hits the surface, which will leave you with a grainy finish.
