Easiest way to do what you wanted with the red metal would be using GW Contrast paint over bright metal, although the contrast doesn't always work well on flat areas. Worth looking into though. It can be done with ink, but similar issues to what you're having. 1 layer of ink isn't very strong of a colour and multiple layers just removes the metal below. Also worth a try though.

Ah fair, yeah I could see that happening with the ink. Might still give it a try, its always fun to experiment.

I tried using contrast red over gold paint. Didn’t like it. Tried mixing it. Didn’t like it. Now I’ve used this shield and redone it 5 times learning to do it as NMM.

I was thinking of using an ink next time to see how that works out. Eventually, i'll be brave enough to try NMM 😅

Great video and great painting dude! I'd seriously recommend picking up some other red paints as the army painters reds are terrible other then that your lookin good 👍

Totally agreed, the reds in this line really leave a lot to be desired. I recently got a lot of Scale 75 paints, and their reds so far are fantastic.
