Looks like you cant cut corners with it... You need to prime the canvas before doing the painting...will solve the light coming through it and will help to not use that much paint. But they look amazing. I think I will start one today

Wow, thank you so much! I tried to make the video as straightforward as possible. I've run into the same problem in the past.

I don't remember specifically, but I'm pretty sure it was just indoor paint. Like a matte indoor paint.

Hi Shawn, how did you create the texture at 2:08 on the timeline?
@ShawnPBruce

I really just tried to be selective about how much paint I was putting in different areas to create some depth. You could do this by varying the color of paint or maybe evening thinning out some of the paint in places.

What colors did u mix for that olive backdrop

I used Dark Olive as the base layer and Desert Twilight as an accent/texture layer.

@@ShawnPBruce awesome! Could you elaborate on how you added the accent / texture?
@ShawnPBruce

@@horizonbreakk I basically used the same roller as the first layer, but it had dried out. For the accent layer, I used less pressure, aiming to have the roller just skim across the canvas. There were places where the roller left too much paint, so I used a paint brush to try to spread the paint out in those spaces. For the most part though, it was just a lot of roller usage and trying to blend things to look natural.

good work, you could of saved yourself a ton of paint if you prep the canvas with a Gesso before painting.

Yeah, it definitely would have been easier. I briefly looked at primers and primed canvas but chose the cheap, cheap route. Haha

I’d consider selling it if you were local. I’d imagine you could get a used Savage canvas from B&H for less than cost and shipping.
