Definitely picked up a couple of tips. Basecoat on sprue and lavishly apply the basecoat! I've been just trying to paint the basecoat neatly and now I've seen your technique, I realise that I've been wasting my time as I'll paint over it anyway! Thanks Alex.

Alex - very helpful. I am glad you took time to do the video. Having spent decades painting slightly differently, I saw some new things here I am going to try. I think you spend more time/ steps on the basing and texturing, but the effect is pleasing. The start on the sprue is also clever. Well done.

That's a well used paint station. Such tiny miniatures. I use the same technique for base coating, saves so much time and I adhere completely to the 3 foot rule ;).

Brown boots? Are they all commissioned officers? ;) Very handy guide Alex and the figures look fine. :)

LOL, that's my own personal take on the colour for the boots, it just adds a bit of interest as they get darkened with the shade anyway. Thank you and I am glad you enjoyed the video!

They all look brown after being in the field a few hours running around I can assure you, I use to an infantry soldier and my black lowers boots were soon a muddy shade of brown.

Excellent video! Look up "Helping Hands", they are manipulable crocodile clips on arms with a magnifying glass. I use them for model making. They could hold the figures by the base as you paint and you have bonus magnification as well!

Awesome watched that while having my breakfast. Needed the right colour for my British airborne trousers, thanks for that. I had been considering a varnish have you ever had any reaction issues? I use a mixture of Vallejo, GW and war games foundry paints.

Glad you enjoyed it Andy, and I was able to pass on some tips! I've never had a reaction with the W&N varnish, it's the best on the market, IMO.

Cracking video. I've moved away from Flames of War over to Battlegroup as I like the more realistic mechanics. Like you are doing I'm looking at going individual basing as well. British miniatures from PSC look very nice. How are the current US late war miniatures from PSC? Trying to decide whether to go PSC or Battlefront.

Cheers, glad you liked it. TBH, I don't like Battlegroup, I find it a bit pedestrian, I much prefer Chain of Command, I Ain't Been Shot Mum and O Group. The US from PSC are a bit skinny, but they still work OK at tabletop distances.

@@StormofSteelWargaming thanks for that feedback. Much appreciated. I've also got into Chain of Command but purely 28mm off the back of Bolt Action. I need to look into a bit more detail of O Group. I'm wondering if the new Victrix 12mm range may be worth a look at.....

I do not know much about this hobby but I am wondering if it makes sense to cut the base and glue the miniature sodiers on an acrylic (transparent) base so that when you place it on the tabletop it will look like it walks on it.

Do you mean the holes in the FoW bases? If so, I'm not sure as I don't know what size the holes are.
