West Kennet Long Barrow in Wiltshire is within the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site and is one of the largest Neolithic chambered tombs in Britain. Jennie Andersons reconstruction illustrates the long barrow under construction around 3650BC. This helps depict the building phase and we used this in Beyond The Stones; • 'Beyond the Stones' : ... , with Phil Harding discussing its purpose.
At Wessex Archaeology, our talented in-house Studio team use a wide range of materials, from traditional hand drawings and watercolours to full 3D reconstructions, to bring archaeology to life. Our artists work closely with our specialists to accurately visualise past communities and landscapes based on the archaeology and environmental evidence we discover on site. These reconstructions are vital in our mission to depict the lives of people in the past and to share their stories.
