As a dentist, The preample ramble this time cracked me up. Good luck Jon with your crown. I can tell you right now, nothing feels and performs as well as what god gave you and you dont want dentures. Any time you remove teeth, the bone remodels itself and starts to resorb and lose mass. I've seen people that've taken their teeth out in their 20s and have fractured their lower jaw (mandible) in their 60+ ages. Extractions, and Dentures are also expensive, hard to chew on and in general suck as your bone constantly remodels and gets lower as you age when you are missing teeth. An upper denture may look good but lower dentures are just the worst. Also, if you want an implant retained denture you're looking at a LOT of money to do them(like 40k+ per arch), and they still wont be as nice to chew on. Yes, dentures are a good option for if you LOSE teeth, but they're a trash option for replacing good teeth. Trust me, just brush, floss, and manage your sugar and carbohydrate intake and you'll be happier and spend less money at the dentist. Cheers

I have a question regadring dentures/false teeth. How do you dispose of them when the owner no longer needs them. Are there parts that are recyclable or do they just go in the trash to be incenerated/landfill. Do i return them to a dentist to properly dispose of them?

Hey Scott, about the fake grass... speaking as one who has done it - replaced real grass for pretty realistic looking fake grass (we were forced to) - the substitute for mowing the lawn is raking the leaves off it - if you leave them on there for too long the turn into mulch which eventually ruins your fake lawn. There will always be a chore to do...!

It's always weird when my podcast/youtube watching streams cross (music nerd/mini painting nerd). I always assume there's not a lot of venn diagram overlap between music obsessives and mini wargaming/painting, but it keeps popping up. Catching up on the podcast.... I love that you talk about the larger world of miniatures, I work in TV and Film in the art department and worked on Wes Anderson's Isle of Dogs and I think a lot of people don't realise the extent of the use of miniatures!! I fully support this dying art in the industry. I think it would be great if you made something and filmed on it!

The VHS tape boxes are great, but...it's also clever. Many small miniature companies used to sell stuff in them, because they're simply insanely cheap and there were huge stockpiles when people stopped selling VHS tapes, etc. So clever to use them and thematic. Nice.

Squidmar is doing a series like Scott said he wanted to make with his Manta diorama project. Personally I find it WAY more engaging than the usual "one off" videos. I cant speak for others but I personally would love to watch you "full time" hobbyists do huge projects that us normies can't create with our regular jobs and hobby time. I think it pushes the hobby into more interesting territory with a narrative instead of watching everyone paint the newest kit that's come out over and over.

That mimicking/learning from the artist idea is great. Like you said you couldn't put the same time into the complete model that the original painter did however you could take the same model and say something like "today we're going to try and replicate the cloak from [insert artist A here] on [insert model A here]", "this week we're going to try and replicate the face from [insert artist B here] on [insert model B here]" etc etc.

I get really good painters will still be really careful with contrasts/speed paints but I really do think the AP Speed Paints will be a game changer for many, particularly with the cost vs GW and the apparent consistency. Obviously many on this channel want to put time into painting but there are so many that would prefer not to play their regular boardgames with plain plastic minis. For those gamers a simple white/grey spray undercoat with a heavy Speedpaint layer with no touchups or highlights will be more than good enough for many. I'm thinking of gamers who want to quickly paint their 150+ War of the Ring (Ares Games) minis or minis from games like Judge Dredd Helter Skelter. Spend a few hours, paint the lot and never touch them up again. Or games that come with 8 to 10 minis I can see them being speed painted in under an hour as part of the cardboard punchout and organisation process. Basically every mini game would look 10 times better with minis painted to the basic Star Wars X-Wing quality.

on spin casting sorry if already answered. havent worked in resin minis but have worked in jewelry and spin casting which a similar scale. We use resin 3d prints for casting, however our final product is metal. the spin casting is used for metals that dont flow well into the final mold cause you dont want it turning solid before it fills the negative space. this is less of a problem with material like resin that keeps its form longer or smaller batches(think the cast your own toy soldier kits they use to sell to kids in the 40s and 50s(though it may still be used, working in a similar field doesnt mean i know everything)

Fake Grass: My yard is like tiny, maybe 200 feet square in total. I scraped up all my grass, laid down a growth barrier, covered it in shrap rock, and installed turf over that. All I have to do is run a leaf blower over it one every other month so dust and dirt doesn't build up. I did that 5 years ago and the money I have saved on gas for the lawnmower has paid for it easily. Don't look back: I'd love a video of you guys playing this, game sounds awesome. Desks and cabinets: Why waste the money on Ikea trash furniture? Find a local construction salvage place and get yourself some kitchen cabinet uppers and lowers and some countertops. Will cost significantly less than ikea, no worries about assembly, and they will last decades longer than Ikea's pressboard shit furniture. And did I mention it would cost significantly less? 1:17:00: The things you are listing work great as youtube content. There is nothing wrong with doing "series" on youtube. Some of my favorite content has been series. I don't understand why you would think any of these idea's can't work on youtube, I would watch all of it. Just organize them into playlists and set a schedule on which you will post videos for the series right? That way people know when to expect them and such. 1:19:00: Ninjon, I gotta be honest, when you didn't make a separate video to paint that conversion I was a bit upset. Felt kind of ripped off if I am being honest. 1:24:00: Painting an army like a real person. Well there is an easy way to do this right? Age of Sigmar has a subset of rules called Path to Glory where you start out small, play a game, earn points to buy new units, add to the army, play more, so on and so forth. So if you wanted to start at say 500 points, that could be one leader, one battle line, then whatever you have left over. That could be one or two videos of painting depending on how in depth you want the video. Then you do a batrep video together, then you add units for another painting video, then another batrep. Only issue with this is that you'd need more people than just the two of you to play games, but we wouldn't need painting video from the other people right? Also, painting an army like a real person is also something usually done in phases. Like when I start an army I usually buy a leader and a few units, paint them, play with them, then add another leader and unit, play with them, so on and so forth. As to differentiating the painting video that's doable too. Vary the techniques you use for the painting right? Do one painting a unit using layering, one with stipple glaze, use a big monster to show off some airbrush skills. These are also valuable keywords for youtube searchers right? I have recently been looking up video of stippling and found VincyV's latest stippling video. I didn't care that we was painting a model I don't like, I was there to learn. As to the converting and painting of a warband, why would you need 12 videos? We don't have to watch the entire process. Like I get you want to use that process to learn to sculpt, that's awesome, I would fucking LOVE to watch that process on at least one of the conversions. I have tried sculpting a bunch of times, maybe you can show me something that would help me. I am about to start a Nurgle army and would love to convert my characters, this could help me. Maybe only make videos for the warband leader, that will be the best of the models right? That would work great. And your most entertaining videos for me to date have been the ones where you are making terrain. The little electronics store and the little garage. AWESOME! I would love to see you making more terrain. And again, do we need to see you make every single item for the table your talking about? No, just the real key parts. I mean, I think you two are jumping to the conclusion of "no one wants to see this" but have you asked us? Set up a few polls for these ideas and get our real thoughts right? Also add spots in polls for people to add their own answers and maybe you can then add those ones you like officially. We are always going to have more ideas than you guys, we outnumber you, ALOT! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA Speed Paint: If they are half the price of contrast I'll buy a complete set and GW can GTFO of my paint collection completely. LOL

A quick idea to the topic of "We cannot commit to one project for a longer time": How about working on that one big project for 4-6 Months, but do it just for I don't know perhaps 20% of your work time (so you leave enough for your other youtube projects). Just film the process of making that big project passively, if that is possible, and when you have enough material you make a highlight-video out of that or explaining in retrospect what you learned, what occurred to you, what might be improtant for other people. I mean for me it would be fine, if there are a few "filler" videos from time to time with just Jon or Scott who are doing the same stuff for 5-10 min in time lapse. I hope you kind of get the idea of what I mean. Anyway great work from you guys, I always enjoy it, so - slay the gray and paint more minis!

You have 20,000 people literally sitting and watching you talk every couple of weeks... if you want to do your long term personal projects, and turn it into content, do it in a podcast format like this. Either tacked onto TUP or as bonus episodes. You already have an audience of people prepared to watch you TALK about hobbying let alone watch you do it, learn from it and be inspired themselves. I'm guessing Jon arrives with plenty of time to record an hour or two of adhoc footage > record TUP > move on. If you kept the same camera setup as you do for TUP and just hobby together WE WILL WATCH IT! For any close up/detail shots, setup a dedicated detail cam with a rotating turntable where you can drop WIP builds onto it - no need to mess about with over the shoulder cams. I can't be alone in having your content on while I hobby myself, so I'm painting > watching > painting.... I don't need stunning production values, I want more of what you two are best at - technique/tips/chat and inspiration. :)

Totally agree on dentures. The biggest advantage of being toothless is you can 3d-print convincing monster teeth for Halloween (and cosplay too). Had to get them early due to bad enamel. Surgical extraction of nearly all my teeth cost the same as half a dozen cavity fillings I had 10 years earlier. Full denture for either top or bottom costs less than a crown. Unless you have perfect teeth, fake teeth are so much easier, less painful, and far less expensive.

As a counterpoint to series don't do well on youtube: Guy's "Speedpainting Blackstone Fortress" series is great and got me to subscribe to Midwinter Mini's. I also enjoy seeing his painting videos and then seeing the same minis put to use in his Battle Reports. In a similar vein, 52 Miniatures first videos (and channel namesake) that work through all of the steps of assembling, painting, and basing all parts of the Soul Wars box. The struggles/challenges/learnings are what give content its charm. I think it'd be fantastic if you guys took a deep dive on a skirmish game where you (on your respective channels) each chose a faction, scheme & strategize list-building, build and paint your team, and eventually play each-other on TUP. Maybe do a post-game analysis on what you learned/what'd you do next time. I thought that was direction you were headed with the kill your friends / guild ball, but unfortunately that we haven't seen anything since. Potential candidates could be Warcry, Blood Bowl, WH Underworlds, Necromunda, Guildball, Godtear, Infinity, or Malifaux. Better yet, maybe some miniature agnostic warbands for a Reign in Hell (or the next yet to be named snarling badger publication) where you can really show your artistry/creativity and paint whatever the hell you want. Heck, you could probably rope in some of the other content creators/youtubers for a road to vinciecon series.

FLEX PLATE TIP I use them and what Ive found is the surface is too smooth. Use 600 grit wet/dry sand paper and rough up the side you want to print on. I do it wet but if you're a dry guy then Im sure itll work just fine. Sand rinse with water then this is the important part attach it to your build plate and wipe the plate down with alcohol and a paper towel. Install the plate into the machine as normal. Once you do that final wipe with alcohol. Do not touch it. The oils from your hand will keep resin in that area from adhearing to the plate. After every print ( wash sand rinse wipe ). Hope this helps.

People often do not understand the importance of good dental hygiene/health. It isn't just about your teeth. It is also your gums, the bone structure under your gums, the lining of your mouth, your salivary glands. They are all connected - the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. When one is compromised the others are prone to failure and the results of that can be quite miserable and can become life threatening. Take care of your teeth.

What if for a more detailed project, like Jon is talking about, it was filmed over a few weeks, and then the video itself is footage at 2x or 10x speed, still edited down some, and maybe slowed to normal speed to show off certain details with a voiceover? It couldn't be an every week thing but maybe one video a month could be a more in depth project, or even every 2 months etc. Something you could set some time aside to each day or week to work on, but doesn't keep you from getting out a regular video each week. It could be its own series of some kind, Painting for Smexy Display Pieces, Beautiful Busts etc

Ok I can contribute to this topic at the beginning. I've got a half plate on my bottom jaw and I would say they are really easy to clean and look great. They're also no fun to chew with at all, foot gets stuck underneath and chewing does not feel right at all. Also get tooth ache on that side but thtat's an unrelated nerve pain issue.

as a 46 year old i just got braces and the same crap, food get stuck so much and it hurts to chew steak and bagels and they put these flat things on the tops of my teeth so that they no longer touch and so its hard to eat things now, cant wait the 2 years to get them off.

Big fan of the show (and Jon’s Santa from last years gift exchange) also the general manager of an award winning pizza shop in Ohio. If it’s close to the destination, I’d love to feed everyone during The next Vincie con.
