Back in the day(tm) surfers used to walk out along the Portlock Pier then go out to the break... we lost my father's "good fiberglass" fishing pole at that pier, as you'd expect of kids. Finally they wrecked down the pier because it was missing boards and getting kind of dangerous, the parents thought. Not to us kids! But they wrecked it down, I guess this was about 1974 or so, and it will be missed.

One of the last times I ever surfed, because once you turn 18 it's just work-work-work, I got barrelled here. It was great.

Nice rides!!! I noticed that you were riding a Hawaii Paipo Designs board. I'm about to get really good deal on one for $150 for the XL. I've surfed my whole life with a little bodyboarding before I was a teenager, but want to try something different and was hoping you could give me a little feedback on the board. I live in Southern California. I haven't seen many reviews on the board. Would it be a good board for the waves out here or should I maybe get a wood Paipo? Any info and advice would be very helpful. Thanks in advance!

Thats a steal of a price. It rides alittle different than a bodyboard. Think bodysurfing take off and riding forward on a bodyboard. Good luck
