The first groups of Pakhtuns arrived in Kashmir in around 1753 A.D. during the reign of Ahmad Shah Durrani.
The community resides in Ganderbal, Kupwara, Baramulla and Islamabad districts of Kashmir.
In July 1954, 100,000 Pashtuns were granted citizenship by the then Prime Minister of State, Bakshi Ghulam Muhammad.
Presently, around a lakh Pakhtuns live in Kashmir. This short documentary covers how the community lives in Kashmir, and keeps their language and culture alive.
