Is there a standard frequency for sacred music? What book would you recommend for a primer on sacred music?

I'm enjoying this talk very much. I'm only about 12 minutes in. Curious if you guys get back to Sacrosanctum Concilium and what it has to say about Gregorian chant having the "pride of place" in the Latin rite. It's a shame that people make the excuse that Latin is too difficult to learn, etc etc... I teach 10-year-olds in our homeschool Co-op how to sing various chants like the Adoro Te Devote, Stabat Mater etc in Latin. 10 year olds. And they are crushing it. It's just excuses and laziness on the part of us adults. The melodies are natural, not overly complex, and organically wed to the Latin language. English is beautiful, but it gets cumbersome when translating the Latin and trying to keep the old Melody. Look for the old paths and walk in them. Side note, there is beautiful contemporary sacred music being written, but it's usually not what I hear on a given Sunday morning. Those melodies tend to be subpar aping of the worst of what '60s pop music had to offer. We can do better. Stay obedient to the magisterium, stay in the Church, but plant seeds of beauty wherever we can, Even if we do not live to eat the fruit.

Sacrosanctum Concilium is being faithfully adhered to in the Conciliar Church. See SC Chapter 4, paragraph 101. As part of the Modernist religion they espouse, the local ordinary is free to do what he sees fit to fit their ceremonies to the faith experiences of their congregations
