Hey Guys and Gals!
In this video Christian, Ash, Lisa and I explore the Historic Palmer River Goldfields and Maytown the Gold Mining Ghost Town in Far North Queensland.
The adventure begins as we turn off the main road and carry on an 80km dirt road drive into the Palmer River Goldfields area. Once we arrive there are lots of milling, mining and battery relics along the way which are all very interesting to see.
The relics are from the Gold Rush which took place in the area between 1874 and 1945. The remains of the mining, milling and batterys are still left in place.
You can feel the isolation when you are in this area, thinking that people in horse and cart tackled these tracks and roads to get to Maytown and the Old Coach Road was impressive to see. The determination for the possibility of hitting it big on a large gold nugget!
Please check out our Old Coach Road journey which is linked at the end of the video for the continuation. Also check out our other Cape York 4wd videos on the Frenchmans, Old Telegraph Track and The Creb.
