Nice and smooth shots! Did you use a gimbal?
@earthAP
6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! No, it's all handheld however both the camera body and the lens have built-in stabilisation that work really well. And it's slowed down from 50fps to 25fps (some clips even from 125fps), so that helps to smooth it out as well.

Love that dog too! Awesome images :) Some questions: all shots wide open? Manual focus? Thanks!
@earthAP
6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Pablo :) Yes, manual focus all the time. The aperture depends on the situation, I don't have it wide open all the time. Unfortunately there is no camera metadata like ISO, aperture, shutter speed in the video files... Maybe I have to get into the habit of taking a picture for each clip to save the metadata because it would be really interesting and helpful for learning...
@pabloitare
6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the answer. What I do when I need to know the metadata of a clip is re-record it on a card and insert it into the camera. So when you play it back the camera shows you the metadata. But take a picture is fast and easy, good idea.
@earthAP
6 жыл бұрын
I just tested your idea but unfortunately it only shows me the ISO value and some other data like picture style in the playback but somehow not the aperture and shutter speed unfortunately. And I realised that taking a picture while recording is only possible when you are in a picture mode but not when you are in one of the video modes... :(

Which ND filter did you use?
@earthAP
6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm using the Hoya Pro ND filters www.hoyafilter.com/hoya/products/prondfilters/ I'm also using the Manfrotto Xume magnetic system so I don't have to screw them on and off every time I want to change the ND filter. Really convenient solution if a matte box isn't an option because of the size...

Great! Can you tell which ND filters exactly you bought? I try to find a good combination for a road trip movie. Also using the GH5 and Leica Nocticron 42,5 :-) Thank You

Sweet combination :-) I currently have four NDs: 4, 8, 16 and 32 but if you shoot in bright daylight you might even need the 64.
@wesleyverbruggen

Love your video style! Great to read that you are using the Xume system, since I just ordered one set of it. Do you use the 67mm Xume set or a larger variant? I ordered the 67mm one, but I'm afraid it will have bad vignetting on the 8-18. But the 72mm is less practical to use with my L12-60. Hard time deciding on this haha!

@@earthAP did you modify your natural picture profile in any way? Did you change contrast, saturation, sharpness, etc.
@earthAP
6 жыл бұрын
Yes, I dialed these down a bit because you can easily add it later in post, while it's harder to remove too much contrast, saturation or sharpness which is "baked" into the file by the camera

@Afroninja10000

Hi, since I saw there wasn't a reply yet, I feel somewhat qualified to answer. The 25mm f1.7 stays on my gh5. It is extremely versatile and the bokeh I get out of it has been more than sufficient for my personal taste and client work. Since its a shorter focal length, you get get a little less shaky footage out of it. I feel like there are more applications for the average shooter having the 25mm. It's like our nifty 50. But I found myself here at this video because I am looking to buy the 42.5mm f1.7 to go with my 25. I feel like it is going to compliment it very well. The 42.5 will give me even more background blur so I can isolate my subject more when I need to. I would rather have this pair than spend $1000 for one f1.2 lens :) hope this helps!

So many lens choices - Depends on personal style, that is, if you want your shots to include more ‘story’ ie, the surrounding environment. GH5 & metabones / viltrox adapters enhance your lens choices, Canon, Sigma, Nikon.

@earthAP

I don't use e stab. because I don't like the "wobbly" effect it sometimes produces... The 42.5mm1.2 has built-in stabilisation (Power OIS) maybe that's why it is smoother.
