Thanks. It is good to see that this player is at least full of electronics. Most players have very little inside just space. I am on the look out for a quality player to use as a CD transport. Will watch your PSU upgrade mod video.

Hi, I cant comment on the 205 video. But any chance of receiving some photos or instructions on the easiest way to remove the disc loader on an OPPO 105/205?

Thank you for this "in depth" video, was there a reason for doing this other than showing internals? Did you put it back together and did it function properly?
@corisc.2734

Yes, it was indeed a reason for making this dismounting video: showing how to do it for those who are installing by them selves my linear power supply, which is shown in the second "episode" (here: kzitem.info/news/bejne/0pCbu6eCknV1q20). Yes, putting all together and powering the device with my LPS, it mean not only a properly functioning, but a much better quality for both picture and digital sound. Well, the other further upgrades it improve even more this device functionality...

What is the DAC chip in this ? I read it’s ESS Sabre but specifically what ?
@corisc.2734

The DAC chips (for stereo and multi-channel) are AKM (for the first versions of the main boards). It may happen that it was used ESS chips in the latest versions. I have not seen yet a such version with ESS DAC onboard.

Hi! I have that player and it had some problems with open and close disc tray. Now it is not opening at all. Have you some advice for it?
@corisc.2734

Hi. This issue it may be caused by some malfunctions on main board (drive controls), or software faults. I will suggest trying a Factory Reset (all present settings are turned to defaults). Also it may be an mechanical fault in the drive itself, or even another drive malfunction. If the Factory Reset will not solve the problem, then an servicing should be considered.

@@corisc.2734 I will try reset but with service is a problem. I call to service to report a repair and they told me that their courier will take it from me to repair and that is the end. Nothing is hapening. Thank you for yopur suggestions. I will try to do something.

Does this Panasonic player run warm naturally I have it and it does feel quite warm on the right back side of it but then again it's inside a media shelf
@corisc.2734
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is normal that the device get somehow warm in that area. Well, normal as it was designed, but in my opinion this is wrong anyway. The device get warm because the main processor is placed in that area, and this it get hot while functioning. The player it have a fan, but this fan it was designed to function when the processor get overheated only. This is bad. Panasonic have designed wrong this section, and so the processor run hot all the time. The fan is triggered only when the processor reach 90° or more. Stupid design! In my upgrade I have corrected this, and the fan is functioning (inaudible), always, being controlled by the internal temperature variation. In this way the processor is properly cooled, work at a much lower temperature, and the enclosure it not get warm at all. This way of functioning it have also positive impact over video signal quality.

I bought one of these after sending by OPPO in for service. The OPPO performed flawlessly for over five years but the drive became corrupted with dust - probably from using it for 3 - 4 hours every night during the pandemic. The Panasonic is impressive; build quality and performance in image and sound - the onscreen menus and navigation are awful (compared to the OPPO).

@@corisc.2734 why couldn't I find a replacement drive and just uncrew and repair myself
@corisc.2734
Жыл бұрын
@@thebeast9869 You can of course find a replacement and do yourself the work. The problem is that you should find an Panasonic optical mechanism, and I am very sceptical this it is possible. You can well try. Another optical head may not be compatible with the device firmware, and it is very likely that it may not be mechanical compatible with the rest of the drive inside body (fixing holes, tray, or whatever). The most important is the software compatibility. The new optical head it should first be recognised by the system, for the whole work together. Mainly, the optical head should be replaced only with a Panasonic made (or agreed) assembly. You can try to contact Panasonic and find out if they are willing to do something for you in this direction (if spare parts it still be available). More, Panasonic (as almost all such companies) do not sell spare parts, but only replace it in their agreed service centres. This is firstly because they want to ensure the replacement is properly done and the device it is well working after replacement operation (some adjustments may be necessary as well), and so, making some more money out of serviced units...

Screwing the feet from the inside is such a petty move from Panasonic. I wanted to replace them with another brand that look nicer but you literally have to take the whole damn thing apart
@PAlex-ei7wl

Yes indeed, this original design solution for fixing the chassis feet is quite stupid. The only option you have, without dismantling the all parts of the device, it is to glue the new feet to the existing ones, in an enough aesthetical and convenient manner.
