The funniest parts in this movie were the child screaming and him throwing her through the portal to heaven and of course, him getting his head bashed in, thus making the monster receive punishment for playing too hard and letting the guilty be reborn 🤣

Thank you for not having the camera so zoomed in that I feel like I could be your dermatologist unlike my five previous tries at watching YT reviews. Plus, no wacky weird sunglasses, affectations, bow-ties, makeup, etc. Looks like you might just, actually, you know, review the movie. I will now watch this video with all ad-blockers off and visit any sponsors you may endorse during it.

Had a good time with it. Each section had a different vibe. I did go in blind too. The anthology aspect didn't hurt it for me, because when Nathan discovers the child in hell, my question immediately was: "Why is she here?!". And the movie answered it in a nice unexpected way. The second/third one was good too. Totally different vibe. The wrap around was the only part that was a little to clumsy against the other two segments. The Nathan story had nothing more to tell us. We know why he ended up there. It just wasn't shown.

I figured you’d review this. I just didn’t have the enthusiasm to comment sooner when this dropped. I zoned out when the monster and child popped up on screen. It took me some time to really understand it was just gonna be DIFFERENT segments anyways 🤣 I was really hoping he turned into the monster as punishment. But reeled myself back in because I hate just tuning out. It happens easily with me.

The first part with "Tony The Monster" when he looked on the mirror and couldn't see himself. I believe that girl created him after what she's done. She saw herself as the "Tony The Monster". She tried to blame someone as kids normally do instead take responsibility. She didn't realized it even after Tony disappeared.

Your “go into a movie blind” bit needs its own video. I’ve had a similar experience recently. One of the reasons I loved so many movies growing up is because I didn’t know anything. Trying to harness that magic as an adult.

Surprised by your review, Jason, I thought you would really dig this one. I saw it last year at a festival and loved it. I went into that screening cold and was gripped from start to finish. The director, Quarxx, was also present for Q&A. I get you didn't like the shift to an anthology type story, but perhaps it's better to judge a film on what it is, not on what you wanted it to be... For me, the tone of the film was the most important thing -- dark, brutal, unrelenting -- and the message of no redemption for mankind as we're all sinners and doomed to Hell is an interesting take on (French) Catholic paranoia. The film also addresses certain social issues, especially regarding family life. I was reminded of Clive Barker -- the constant sense of dread and pain and suffering. For me, the film's structure is less important than its message, but I thought the different stories worked.

I liked it. I would have preferred it to stay that story though

I completely agree with this. I saw it at a film festival and was Completely on board with the stuff with the guys at the gates at heaven and hell. But when it started to go into the first story, there was literally a point where I was sitting there thinking "is this the same film? Has the projectionist or the studio mixed films up somehow? Or did I fall asleep and am now watching the next film?" Sounds crazy but it was that jarring. Then the person next to me leaned over and said, "Are we still watching Pandemonium, or have I been asleep?". Can't decide how I feel overall because the things in it that I like I really like.

@sinistercinemareviews5420 I think I read somewhere that the stories were originally filmed and released as separate short movies which have been cobbled together, so the only new material (so to speak) is the wrap around stuff

Ah man, that sucks. I was totally unaware, when I saw the trailer. Didn’t read any reviews or spoilers. Note to myself: don’t suggest movies to the horror couple, before seeing them lol.

I also wanted to know the stories of Nathan and Daniel. Possible spoilers... The order of the two stories didn't make any sense to me. Why start with the over the top, borderline silly, story of insanity followed by a heartbreakingly grounded in reality story of griefstriken insanity. Only to abandon this intriguing depiction of hell to return to a silly over the top traditional demonic ending. It's also hard to believe Nathan has such a monsterous soul when we don't know enough about his sinful choice. I was so hoping when he collapsed after the first two stories we'd delve into his. The movie feels incomplete without that 3rd act. Interesting watch, so I only want three of the six dollars I paid back.
