I love to enlighten you on certain facts though I don't have any concrete proof with me as the concerned persons are dead and gone. Ravishankarji was sent to Pt. Rameshwar Pathak by Baba Alauddin to learn the nuances of Sitar as Baba did not play Sitar himself. This I had read from a small article by Pandit Ravishankar himself in the Illustrated weakly of India published from Bombay long back. For some time Ravishankarji and Pathakji (Balaram) stayed together at Beneras in Ravishankarji's house and practiced together. I refrain from any comments given by Pathakji to me personally on this. Pandit Balaram Pathak and Pt. Rameshwar Pathak were related but Balaram ji had a gharana of his own for about seven generations starting from Pt. Gopal Nayek. He learned entirely from his father the Late Pt. Ramgovind Patak. Unfortunately he had to fend for himself from an early age of about 19 years and once commented to me that Pt . Rameshwar Pathak had asked him to come to him and take whatever (Tuta Futa) was with him, as his successors were unworthy. He was unable to go as he was fighting for an existance here in Calcutta as the Maharaja of Kassimbazar were no longer able to protect the State musician.

Very melodious. Thank you Dipankar Babuu. I have one question. I have one inquisitiveness, which gharana he belongs to. I know he was from Dwarbhanga thogh except dhrupad I have no idea that the style influenced him. But I find resemblance of Etawa gharana. If some one enlightens me in this respect I'll be highly indebted to him/her🙏

He had learned entirely from his father the late Pandit Ramgovind Pathak and he belonged to his own Gharana - the Pathak gharana who had been playing for almost seven generations. he was related to the late pandit Rameshwar Pathak. He had developed his music in different ways enriched them with tremendous meend and khanaks. He used to play in the Dhrupad style , which he learned and later started playing in the kheyal ang and there are many of his recordings where he played in vilambit Ektal. In a AIR interview which you can find in my list, He tried to explain the improvisations he had done.
