I have been listening to his music for over 54 years. Calming, ethereal. Just what the world needs. Alan Comet from Young Gods played the sitar and met an Indian musician that told him he was playing it wrong. So he went to India for several months to learn to play correctly. While he was there, he helped them produce several albums, since they are very talented. Knock On Wood is an amazing album, not just their sitar guitar but also with a string quartet.

Wonderful music undoubtedly, it is the contemplative and visionary practices that are the source of this music. This music comes out of the Sama Veda and its meant to withstand certain experiences difficult to articulate by words alone. The whole of the Vedic telos is asthetic, consciousness seeking beauty and harmony.

So hard to believe that this Ravi Shankar would later join Mumbai's underworld. Nicknamed 'Rajju Bhaiyya' by the good Don 'Haji Mastan' Ravi Shankar made his name in extortion, kidnapping, bottle leggings, illegal gambling and prostitution dens in 60's and 70's. 'Rajju Bhaiyya' will always be remembered for brokering peace between the Pathans and Dawud bhai's gang which would go onto consolidate Haji Mastan's power. Long live the Underworld!! Long live the Bengal's Rajju Bhaiyya!!

DLMC 1990 after main rag Parameswari. Which was superb. RS announced he got it from Baba ( Guru AK) but playing it publicly for the first time. Beautifully sweet filling mind with peace and joy. Only RS could extract the essence of this short raga. Sitar music is not all about speed supersonic fast taans repeated meends gamaks and noisy jhalas using the right hand overwhelming the main swaras.
