Having long hair does not make you ‘glam’! Pantera with Phil as lead was never considered glam. This was metal kicked up a notch. Glam , before it morphed into anything and everything with long hair and from the 80’s, was reserved for bands that wore heavy makeup and lipstick and were played on constant rotation on the radio and mtv and every girl you knew loved them!

@@allisterfiend_2112they were literally Glam in their first 3 albums, and Power Metal is closer to the glam sound than it was to any other metal that was around bakc in the late 80s. It certainly wasn't thrash, death, black, or classic metal
@allisterfiend_2112

@@bigalexxx The term 'glam' represents a look, not a sound! The earlier Pantera albums before Power Metal sound metal, when Phil joined the band for the Power Metal album you could start to hear them kick things up a notch, The Power Metal album title is literally telling you what type of music it is. We called it power metal back then and if you can not tell the difference between metal and power metal it probably means you were not around at that time living the experience. As with all things, over time, all terms, categories eventually get combined into other terms.

There is a lot of Megadeth sound / feel from this song. Guitars, drums, & vocals - very similar to old school Megadeth. I really like this record because it's all over the place. Traces of their Glam past, some influences of Metallica, Megadeth, 80's metal (glam & non glam), &most importantly you can really start to hear the modern Pantera surfacing - this is especially true in Dimebag's guitar playing. What they did between this record & cowboys from hell is amazing.

This is one of Pantera's best songs. Its a shame they would never even acknowledge preCFH material.

as much as i hate to say it, Vinnie and Dime's style meshes perfectly with glammetal. And Phil's vocals are actually amazing for that genre too. Cowboys from Hell was the ultimate "I am growing out of hair metal" phase for an entire generation. You can hear "the 80s" on that album, but the thrash elements and double bass usage really makes it feel like a totally different beast. Phil's vocals werent as deep on that album

Still can't believe this is the same guy who did vocals on Revolution is My Name.
