I don't think the female is too happy...how long has she been that color? You might want to think about separating them. But if shes not losing too much weight and she still eats you might be ok....

She was just showing the male she is not interested. In the wild they tend to stay in pairs in larger trees but are never very far away from each other. ( this can be seen as well in Steve Irwin’s “I love chameleons trip” he found a pair looking almost identical to mine, but they were happy staying in the same tree while she was Gravid)

Beautiful, I just got a red body blue bar egg today and I currently also own a female veil. I HATE it when people reply with comments like "I just got mine! He is in a 40 gallon glass aquarium and loves to lay on his side in the terrarium sand like the beach! By the way I'm an IDIOT! Byeeeee!". Anyone else agree, also you will only get this if you have ANY chameleon experience.

Sorry just recently got back on here. It was a blue bar ambilobe from a Breeder that supplies LLL reptile. I think his name was Kevin. But it was almost 10 years ago. I had several batches of babies from this pair. But they did pass away recently. Chams only live up to like 8 or 9 when you get lucky.

It is never reccomended, and especially with veileds as they are generally more aggressive. they only way i was able to do so is because they grew up in free ranges from acrossed the room (in visual eyesight) then eventually lived in the same tree, there are three basking sites, multiple feeding cups, multiple dripping(drinking stations) plus have multiple misting nozzels (so they are all misted equally). they have still argued, but have grown older, and no longer disturb eachother.

@Epheli.

its basically an expression of thier mood, and over the years (evolution) they have made a specific coloring (thier are about a dozen or so "locals" morphs of different banding and coloration (amongst the panther chameleon species) and just depends on north, west, south or east of madagasgar (nosy be, diego suarez, nosy faly, ambilobe (red or blue bar) tamative and the list keeps going). its all on the individual and what locale they are from that determines the base color of the animal.
@Epheli.
11 жыл бұрын
you will want to use a variety of insects to complete thier diet(otherwise you will have health problems and lots of vet bills) yes crickets are noisy(ive gotten used to them)keep them in a closet or different room. insects i reccomend are crickets, hornworms, silkworms, dubia roaches, locusts, and praying mantids. and for snacks(do not feed too many)waxworms, mealworms,and superworms.and for babies i use wingless fruit flies, springtails, and baby mantids. you will also need to gutload the bugs

It’s all free range, meaning no cages whatsoever. They tend to much more friendly and stress free without cages, but you must spend constant time near them and with them. ( meaning, chameleon breeding is your job]. They can be kept in one area by making plexiglass walls at the bottom of the free range ( far enough away from the nearest branch and wider than any of the vines)

If your cham is 12 months old and still not showing any color, you may have a female and not know it..otherwise breeding on its own requires an incubator, more caging, lighting, and very very small food and lots of it..plan to spend around 1000.00 on the system to have ready for babies, (misting system, separate smaller cages, lighting, and a high quality incubator) ..i suggest getting some info from here : chameleonforums

they can, however its pretty rare, normally what i do is fill the cup with about 10 crickets in the morning, then empty it back out before lights off (they tend to be more active and jumpy at night), but its a good way to feed while free ranging your chams.. p.s. dubia roaches, hornworms, and silkworms cannot escape..only crickets have an uncanny ability of escapes..

They lived together in the open range system for about 7 years together. She would only go into “gravid” coloration when not “available “ to mate. Just showing the male he has no chance at this time. mine are full blue bar ambilobe panther chameleons, bloodline is important so you dont end up with "mutts" like with dogs, you just mix them up and make ugly, worthless dogs that only have generic traits..i keep my as pure to the madagascan bloodline as possible so that at a glance you can tell the locale of the chameleon. i leave nothing on the cage floor (or in my case, free range floor) easy to clean., keep a plant in the pot, use river rocks to cover the dirt. vines work great, add lots!

Bloodline is simply keeping thier barring, patterns, and coloration as closley as possible to thier "locale" in the wild. when cross bred, you end up with "mutts" like dogs, some are pretty , most are ugly, and most of them never know what locales are bred with what after they mix..mine are true "blue bar ambilobe panther chameleons"..the prices are 250 per male and 200 per female or 400 for a pair (excluding shipping costs)
