On this very day five years ago the last Panther Platform vehicle rolled off the production line at Saint Thomas in Ontario. In case you aren't aware of what the Panther Platform is, please let me briefly explain. The Panther Platform is a shared chassis vehicle that is owned by Ford and shared between the three main Ford companies - Ford, Lincoln and Mercury. These cars were well known for serving the police and transporting people around as a taxi or as a rental car. The three main vehicles produced throughout the Panther Platform timeline are the Ford Crown Victoria, Mercury Grand Marquis and the Lincoln Town Car. These cars are the predators on highways and the iconic image of New York.
The last vehicle to be produced on September 15th 2011 was a Ford Crown Victoria LX. It was later exported to the Middle East.
This video is a tribute to the greatest series of cars I've grown up with. To you they may be slow, ugly and boring but to me and many others these cars mean a lot. The Crown Victoria has served nearly every police department in North America and it has always been there for you when you've needed a lift. The Grand Marquis was your luxury rental sedan that met you at the airport or it was your grandpa's most loved car. The Lincoln Town Car chauffeured everyone around town in style and comfort making traffic jams more of a calming scenario.
If there are any Panther Platform owners watching this, you have my respect and I'd like to know what model and year your Panther is!
Credit goes out to those who lended their footage for this tribute and to Coldplay for their backing song Up&Up.
