I just mounted the panzer up on a new wheel hoping it goes well. I do have the nasty maxxis tyre wobble but on my dissector DD. I think this was from mounting with cushcores on my last rim!

I was unable to install Panzer Evo (Maxxis Assegai 2,5'' DH casing, rim's internal width 30 mm). I broke all my plastic tire levers I had at home (yellow Pedros). I use a similar installation method as you and I did not have any problems to install 1st generation Panzer on EXO and EXO+ tires in the past (Panzer first generation is of smaller size and is softer comparing to EVO). What casing is your tire? Thank you!
@JaredHoff
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I was wondering the same thing. Do you need heavy casing if you’re running inserts?
@mtbtelly5522
3 жыл бұрын
@@JaredHoff your casing choice should still be relative to your trails/riding/susceptibility to flats. The inserts don’t really give you added protection against tears, its more just for rim protection. I’ve cut doubledown tyres with and without cushcore, it doesn’t make a lot of difference there. But the rim protection you get is night and day.

also have you tried rockstop? I bought a couple pairs of them but never tried them yet. These things feel like they're actually made of rubber or hard silicon or something. Maybe you should reach out to them and ask for a pair for t&e and review and comparison to others. Would be nice to see how they stack up to the rest since i have no exp with tire inserts as of yet.

I haven’t tried them but it looks to do the job. I’m not a fan of having zip ties in my tyre though as it can cut either the tyre or the rim tape on a hard impact. Shoe laces are a way better way of tying the insert together. Pretty much same weight as a cushcore so it’d be good in the back but not so much up front

@@mtbtelly5522 i see. I do have some paracord. Maybe i can try that if i run into problems with the zip ties.

Hey mate fitted this last night had massive issues with valve not releasing air. Did you have any issues? In running Stan's valves
@mtbtelly5522
2 жыл бұрын
Hey bud, yep, with this insert you wanna run valves that release the air into the tyre sideways instead of just vertically as the insert covers the base of the valve creating a seal. The cushcore valves are good but there are also many other brands now making the same style valve with the air entering the tyre on the sides versus the base.

i must have the hand strength of a 7 year old girl because i absolutely for the life of me can't seat a tire this easily. I even bought a motocross style tire lever to help me seat tires and i still struggle. It takes me damn near 20 - 30 minutes just to seat one damn tire.

@@thebadness6217 ah. I remember a few years ago when I tested the craftworks, it had spank rims which were super tight to fit tyres to. But I’ve changed tyres on a spank rim more recently and it was a pretty standard fit. You might have the tight fit rims. Thats not fun at all haha. I’m assuming you’re pushing the bead down into the centre well of the rim when trying to get the final part of the tyre in. The WTB rims would’ve been easier yeah?

@@mtbtelly5522 ye, once i got one side of the bead on i tried to push it into the channel that's closest to that bead. The spank rims are weird and there's 2 channels inside the rim instead of just one like most rims.

@@thebadness6217 so just to be clear. You put the tyre on, pump it up until the beads lock in completely, then deflate, break one bead and open it up to now install the tyre insert. Is this what you’re doing?
