There are days when Paola sees a policeman on the street and feels an uncontrollable urge to make obscene gestures at him. Not that she hates the police force enough to expose herself to a situation of violence; in fact, Paola has had Tourette's Syndrome since childhood, a disorder of the nervous system that involves repetitive movements or unwanted sounds. Many of Paola's behaviors are difficult to explain even to her. In addition to pointing fingers at others, she can imitate other people's sounds and voices, she can move abruptly for long minutes in public environments, and she can even develop some motor tic that is very difficult to get rid of. As you can imagine, her coexistence with other people is not something simple. In this video, she tells us about her daily battle to deal with this incurable disorder and how her friends are an important part of her journey.
