When a young woman confronts the man who raped her, both of their lives are changed.
Paper Crane is a ten-minute short film written and directed by Christine Sciortino. The film stars Elise Bauman and Matt Watson. It is shot by Emmy Award Winning Cinematographer Alfie Alcántara and edited by Gregory Dixon, with original music by Philip Marx and Efe Tufan.
Shot on the Red Scarlet-X digital camera in New York City, Summer 2012 with an all-volunteer, professional crew and seasoned cast. Visually inspired by Jim Jarmusch’s Coffee and Cigarettes, the film is set in a café and centered around two characters discussing the past. After premiering at the Women of the Now Anniversary Showcase in 2018, where it won Audience Favorite, Paper Crane has screened at film festivals around the world including taking home first prize at the Lens for Change Film Festival in Mexico City.
We are truly honored to release Paper Crane online at the end of 2020 and we hope that it will inspire conversations between you and your communities - bringing the issue of rape culture more into our daily conversations.
