Papers Please gets really heavy sometimes. Some girl left me a note as she was passing through saying she was worried about a guy in line behind her who she thought was gonna threaten her for her passport and make her work at a brothel. But when the guy came up, all his stuff checked out, and I'd already lost $5. So I let him in. Next day in the newspaper, she was dead. That was all my fault.

I was actually presented with a tough choice in Papers, Please where a girl handed me a piece of paper and asked me to help her because there was a man a few people behind her who she was sure was going to sell her and her sister into prostitution and steal their passports so they couldn't get away. I had already used up my two free fuck-ups for the day, but I turned that fucker down cold, even though he could get in and I lost five bucks for it. I thought it was worth it.
@aeterna789

You could have used the piece of paper she gave you and go into Inspect mode and highlighted the guy's name (from the piece of paper) then compared it with his passport / face. Played Brothers a Tale of Two Sons and he's pretty much right on every front. The storytelling from their actions can be quite good and some of the puzzles are pretty inventive, especially the one close to the end where the two munckins are tied to each other and you have to do a combination of jumps, holds and Tarzan swings to get them into and up a large castle. And pretty damn grim when to clear your path through a Giants battleground you shoot one corpse in the head with a massive crossbow to knock him out of the way, and chop another's bigass leg apart with an axe and have to walk through the blood getting soaked. And it really is quite short.
@MrJL1995

What papers please does right which i think, no game does better is when it comes to is the amount of moral choices that "matter"... Some games have branching moral decisions, but the game itself is based on that you pick the good choice, otherwise the entire game experience is comprimised to such an extent, that it becomes a bit incomplete, because you miss out on content, examples of this are "fallout 3" and "red dead red redemption". In papers please, being "good" is really tricky sometimes. You do not know if your Kindness eventuelly will pay of and everytime you wave the rules it is at your own expense, which also makes it more intriguing
@Mrstealth93
10 жыл бұрын
I think Papers Please is pretty good. You really have to be vigilant to the smallest detail. The only thing i keep fucking up is when the country`s insignia on a permit has been forged. I mean, those differences got to be incredibly hard to spot since i always think the insignia looks ok.

Yahtzee was forced to edit his video due to some flack about a joke in which he, as far as the LGBT community (or at least some very vocal members of it) were concerned, stated that pre-op trans women (genetically male) were male and that a man sucking their cock was gay. Websters defines gay as: "sexually attracted to someone who is the same sex" and sex, from the same source is: "either of the two major forms of individuals that occur in many species and that are distinguished respectively as female or male especially on the basis of their reproductive organs and structures". So, by definition, a Male of our species, as defined by our reproductive organs and structures, who is attracted to someone with the same organs and structures is gay. Whether or not they are mentally female or not is irrelevant. The fact is, the act alone is gay. That's nothing to be angry about, or upset about. A gay action is perfectly fine. But to be so up in arms because of a joke that you ask the man who made it to take it down, and to cause a 15 page flame-war over this is absurd. What I want to know is, why they were so very angry to begin with though. I mean, they are with the LGBT, so it cannot be the calling the action gay part, as they should know there is nothing wrong with that, and we were discussing sex, not gender, which is different in that gender would take mindset into consideration, so it shouldn't be a problem in that regard. Honestly though, I think Yahtzee should be allowed to put back up the original version of the video, as he shouldn't have to reprise his statements to make a few people, who saw his video and were unhappy, feel better. In a long line of jokes of his with questionable content, this was probably one of the more tame, but it got blown way out of proportion.

You don't understand the problem with what he said. The problem with what he said- "I'm not gay, I only suck off pre-op transsexuals", is an attempt at a joke that botches up the nature of the very people he uses as a joke. If you're with a pre-operation transgender person, then it doesn't matter what gear they have, they're the gender they identify with, so someone who has sex with a pre-operation woman... is in fact, not gay. Likewise, someone who has sex with someone of the same gender following an operation is, in fact, gay. People who say "oh, it's the equipment that matters!" are wrong. But while we're at it, let's analyze the other ways in which he's wrong- Transgender women are the victim of brutal sexual violence, assault, abuse, and hatred, so it's insensitive. Closeted non-straight people are frequently working to handicap any rights LGBT individuals have, so its making a joke at the expense of people's freedoms. LGBT people are the only people it's still "acceptable" to mock for existing and apply stereotypes to, besides fat people. But then again, fat people in the South aren't having hate crimes committed against them, or being bullied into suicide. It makes sense you cite butthurt, since you are an asshole.

Chris Umstadter ITS A FUCKING JOKE. Not aimed towards anyone by the way. Seriously, idiots like you who look too deeply into shit is what's wrong with the world. In your post, you separated a bunch of people into groups. Women, Gays, Fat People, Southern people. Yahtzee once said "A society that can make jokes about anyone else and everyone laughs is a truly tolerant society. Political correctness charged censorship only serves to engender resentment and distance between social groups." And that sir, is why you are a fucking twat.

Chris Umstadter yeah, so that's not a good way of thinking about it. Don't label people. "gay" and "not gay" lose all meaning when you use them that way, and there's really no difference between them anyway, except for in some people's minds. And those people are gonna be 'told', I think.

invghost Anzuo InvGhost- See, what you say is true if everyone is equal. Everyone is still not equal. Not even close. In the 60s and 70s, things started to get a little better, and then the 80s and 90s started reversing those trends. Operating on your assumptions, I'd assume that you'd think that "reverse racism" is totally a real thing... well it's not. Claims of reverse racism are when straight white cis male individuals realize that some of your intrinsic privilege is being equalized. And it's not even that much. So, just to be clear, if you don't think you're entitled being a white, hetero, male by birth gender... you need to really re-examine your life. Let's just look at your capstone insult- you called me a derogatory term for a woman. Implying both that A) I am a woman, and that B) being a woman is something to be ashamed of. And, Anzuo, your response was way more thoughtful, considered, and on the whole mature. The thing is, the people who think that being gay makes you either a woman, or less of a man, or both, are still in power, and while things have gotten considerably better, in the United States, they're still a long way from great. I had a coworker, for example, in complete jest, call me a "Faggot" to my face. This was my second day on the job. He didn't know me, but he thought, "Oh, I was raised thinking "Don't be gay" means "Don't be stupid", so being gay is something I can use to mock someone." Likewise, a coworker who called another coworker a "Fucking faggot" in my presence was not terminated for his homophobia. They said it was a question of intended person to which the slur was directed. Which, quite frankly, is stupid. It basically means anyone who doesn't go stealth with their orientation has to deal with his stupid incidental homophobia, and work in a hostile environment. He's either incidentally homophobic, or actually homophobic. Either is problematic.

Yeah Brothers was simplistic but I think that was necessary. Like you said if it involved any combat or incredibly complex mechanics it'd get too hard to juggle when it's tough enough just keeping the two going in opposite directions without confusing them. I nicknamed them Right and Left for half the game just to simplify things. *Great* story though, and I'm a sucker for that so I tend to give weaker gameplay a pass. Plus another pass for being one a kind in that single player co-op mechanic. Plus a third pass because I'm freakishly afraid of heights and the game really loves cliffs, adding to the intensity.

Indeed. And with Gearbox producing some rather poor games (I'm looking at you, Aliens: Colonial Marines) and Ubisoft making some nice PR blunders, it seems that EA is swiftly losing its monopoly in the evil video game company market.
