Wow - My heart is so moved - and right there in Kapiolani Park! I’m a UH grad who also spent time in the Yangla Village area on Umboi Island. The moment they started dancing, singing and playing the kundu drums I was transported back to a sing-sing I had the privilege of watching. The costumes and music are so beautifully distinctive and I met the loveliest people there. Thank you for sharing this amazing gift!!

Great classic performance, our Siassi men and women. This is NO Creative dance. It is a traditional dance. This group is one of the many groups, who perform just different from them. They come from the Island of Umboi, Siassi, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. Thanks people of Hawaii, USA, for appreciating them.

When are these songs & dances usually performed? eg: are they performed during feasts, deaths, harvesting a garden etc? Wow I can hear some odd notes in the songs sung, very unique. Thank you all wantok from Morobe for show casing some of our rich & unique culture & thank you Hawaii for hosting our people.
