Papua New Guinea Day 2
In this video we will show you how our second day in the jungles of Papua New Guinea went. From the village where we spent the night, Boredabu, we went to the even more isolated and remote Anadabu. The trail was littered with sticky mud patches. It was quite slippery and crossing required caution. Naturally, our guides had no problem with her.
We crossed the river and through some pretty scenic stretches. There were all kinds of weird plants and all kinds of sounds. Unfortunately, we did not get to see the bird of paradise, which is the symbol of Papua New Guinea. We stopped several times to rest, and our new friends used the breaks from walking to chew betel. For them it seemed like a cigarette break.
When we finally reached the village I was again very tired from the road. There were many children in this village as well and they did not stop playing in the pouring rain. Then they bathed in the river with Miro, while I confess, I stood on the bank. It looked like a lot of fun watching them from the side, but I got cold.
There is no electricity, water or range in both villages we have been to so far. We stayed at the local teacher's house, which also had their classroom. There was a board and a clock. And their little dog was called Choki (chalk). It stubbornly turned warm almost in the fire itself.
For dinner we also ate fresh fish that they had specially caught. Their main food is root vegetables, coconut, bananas and rice, meat or canned fish.
That's it for the day!
Stay tuned for the sequel...
I'm Laura. Have a nice trip! 😊
