For those interested in posting comments about forest "mismanagement", I would gently point out that this was an URBAN fire, not a wildlands fire. Additionally, the trees are all still in good shape and standing strong. Lastly, please look at Calfire's own notes regarding the "Brushy Fire" at Dos Rios. Called the "Brushy Fire", because it started in partial grass/oak wildlands filled with DENSE chapparel brush moving into pine forest (hot tinder!). Only 80 miles away (as the crow flies) from Paradise. Started on the same day, with the same weather and the same winds, the same precipitation (EXACTLY TWICE the normal rainfall for the 2017 year!). The only difference is it contained far more flammable conditions, much steeper terrain, no paved roads, no accessability, no highways, no concrete and no cars. In other words, the Brushy Fire should have been the problem child were this an issue about "forest mismanagement" "damn treehuggers" or "climate change". We can now rule those suggestions out!

From what I seen firsthand folks, nothing but pure devastation.... the cause is simple... mostly an underbrush problem... lack of forest floor management on the part of the city and property owners... the wind and lack of sufficient floor clearing, made this a “perfect storm”.

The biggest issue was so much dry grass from a wet spring. It dried over the summer and was easy to catch from sparks from a power line. I can see clearing the brush and such, but clearing grass wouldn't have stopped the fire. So clearing brush from the forest floor may have helped, but the grass being cleared is usually in controlled burns instead of waiting for a forest fire.

Go to www.google/maps and find that exact spot where the fire started ie: Pugla Road/Camp Creek Road and Dogwood Creek. Zoom in to 20 feet, and you will see there is some object, not a tree, that was built so high because of the height of the power line, it was very white and had 2 of it's florets (because it looked like a flower) draped just over, or just below one of the power lines, the middle tension line group, the far left line, almost directly over Dogwood Creek. It also had a middle, of this floret/object, that looked like it had a missile, tucked in this launch enclosure. What the heck was that? Then backing up and viewing the satellite feed, on youtube for that morning immediately before and during the conflagration, and speculating if this was a missile, it could have contained all the accelerate to create a blowtorch condition, so that when it released its payload of highly flammable, aluminum&magnesium powder during its ascent. Immediately, DEW from the opposite hills or from aircraft above, could and did ignite the middle of the accelerate power falling over everything, creating a blowtorch wind incinerating whatever would ignite. Satellite presentation just caught showing a missle that then broke apart, to whit, how it was done. Okay children. There are things you don't know that led you to that conclusion. First: join a local volunteer FD and roll out on all types of fires for at least 5 years and you will learn the basics. Understand what "class A", and "lightweight" construction is. After 5 yrs in a FD you will know that a line officer takes 30 seconds to see if a structure is "defendable". You will also have a better understanding of "fire behavior". And hopefully you will mature some. 2) Study the history of wildfires across the USA, and the world including Australia. 3) Learn about California's current climatology *not climate change* just the current conditions. Only then make unscientific, foolish comments on this tragedy.

I wonder when the owners of all the properties, will be allowed back in? And the same for all the different types of power? And will the owners of the destroyed structures, rebuild? What about those structures that weren't touched, or had very little damage? Will people leave or stay? Lots of questions. A real tragedy!

Then we have buildings utterly destroyed yet all the surrounding trees & vegetation are untouched. Nothing about any of this makes sense. Regular fires don't behave like this. House fires burned the same as the rest of the housefires in the world. If you watch more vids of the fire you'll see there was no conspiracy. Cars burn hotter because of the plastics and such that they are made from. This is no different than any other car fire. Trees, though still standing, are dead, burned. Trash cans melted or burned like everything else. Like some houses, some burned while others were left untouched. It's just how the fire worked out.
