This Shabbat before Tisha B'Av is called Shabbat Chazon - The Sabbath of Vision
A theme of compassion and a feeling of urgency connects all the Torah portions in the Book of Deuteronomy. Moses knows his time is quickly approaching to leave this world, and he lovingly prepares his people for their entrance into the Promised Land. Yet he was bothered by a foreboding sense of apprehension...a prophetic concern which has great relevance for our generation as well.
The Torah portion of Devarim (Deut. 1 : 1 - 3 : 22) is read on Shabbat, Menachem Av 6, 5784 - 'Shabbat Chazon', the Sabbath of Vision - August 10, 2024
