Uncontrolled and erratic, the online world can be a fearful and uncertain ecosphere for young users to navigate safely. Author and columnist Neha J. Hiranandani has written articles on parenting for The Indian Express and Vogue India. Her new book, ‘iParent’, leads parents of the digital generation through the world of cyber-safety for their kids. Shivani Sibal is a parent and the author of the novel Equations, which explores family, social change and class divides. Parent, writer, mathematician and Professor of Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford, Marcus du Sautoy, is the author of several books including, his recent book Around the World in 80 Games explores how mathematics and games have always been deeply intertwined. In conversation with Priyanka Khanna they discuss the stark differences in digital environments across generations, guidelines for parents coping with these, and how a world of devices may be handled with caution.
Neha Hiranandani has spent the last two decades working on development issues, with a focus on gender equity in various organisations, including the United Nations. She completed her undergraduate degree with honours from Wellesley College and has a master’s in education policy from Harvard University. Neha’s columns on social and economic issues have appeared in several prominent publications, including Indian Express, Huffington Post, NDTV and Vogue. Her first book, Girl Power! was a national bestseller. Her new book examines a global, uncontrolled experiment - no generation before us has had to parent a generation that is born with a phone in their hands.
Shivani Sibal's acclaimed debut novel Equations heralds a fresh new voice in the world of contemporary Indian fiction. Set against the backdrop of 1980s Delhi, her narrative traverses the city’s transformation into the complexities of the modern era. Celebrated for its nuanced exploration of social dynamics, Equations has earned rave reviews from The Times of India, The Hindustan Times, The Hindu, The New Indian Express, The Asian Age, Scroll, The Week, and Open Magazine. She is working on her second novel.
Marcus du Sautoy is the Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and a fellow of the Royal Society. He is the author of eight books and two plays and has presented numerous radio and TV series for the BBC.
Priyanka Khanna is an author, as well as an art, design and fashion writer and speaker. After working at Hearst Magazines in New York, Khanna joined Vogue India, where she spent 15 years as the Fashion Features Director, overseeing fashion related content across digital and print. She is a contributing editor at The World of Interiors and an advisor at the non profit ‘Share A Book India.’ Khanna's first novel is All The Right People.
