I remember in Middle school and my freshman year my mom was running late because of traffic and I had appointments we needed to get to ASAP. So she called the school a head of time, gave them her rough location and a rough time to her arrival. The office got what they needed together to smooth out the process in a quick manner, roughly a minute or two before her arrival/when they saw her vehicle they'd call my teachers to send me out and collet my things. The school didn't just let me sit in the office for 5/10 minutes to wait, they would wait till 2 minutes before her arrival. At most I maybe spent 3-4 minutes waiting in the office one time because on top of traffic my mom couldn't find a parking spot.

@@basicallyme. here's the problem with that though, sounds awful I know, but they have to check the files and things even if they know it's him to find out if they're even allowed to release his own kids to him. It was on my file though, he wasn't too have us. Like the same reason they don't let anyone in hospitals for visitation without express consent. Just because you know them doesn't mean they can't be a danger to you. It put a bad taste in his mouth the fact they didn't do ANYTHING to check, he probably should have said something so they knew it happened but ya know early 2000s. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

@@missXmarie0990 I think you misunderstood. The child in question (and many others) got a dismissal at least twice a week. Once you check it so many times you know what it says. If a change is made they need to let the school know , which will then let the attendance person know. Now she can double check if she wants to but if you already know what it says there's no need to check. How would she have gotten in to go to the classroom without going through the office? Most schools these days do not have unsecured access to the public and if a parent wants to sign out a kid then they wait in the office and the child is sent for. No one should be allowed to wander the halls, no matter who they say they are. Often there is a list available to the office and the teacher, of who is allow to sign out a child and a list who CANNOT if there is family turmoil.

I work in kids ministry at a "mega" church (our average weekend attendance is around 7000 in person) We use a system where a kid gets a name tag that has a unique number on it and the person who brought the child has a sticker with a matching number. When the gardian looses the sticker we have to check our security feeds to determine that the kid was brought by the gardian, along with the drivers license of the gardian ro make sure they are on the list of that child's approved gardians, before we can release the child to them. The number of times my co-workers and I have to call my supervisor over to explain this to gardians is insane, like just be glad we care about your child's safety and be thankful that we have these measures in place to protect the kids

When I was in 4th grade this girl whose desk was next to mine was named Kristy. For about a week, she kept telling me how excited she was to be going away with her brother and her mom for a trip. She even brought in a photo of her older brother and Mom to show me and had it inside her desk. She told me Friday morning that her brother and mom were signing her out early and she was leaving at lunchtime. So I didn't think anything of it when after lunch, she wasn't there......until I got called down to the principals office. When I entered, there were police officers in the office and they had me sit down. They asked me if Kristy had mentioned anything to me about going anywhere with anyone. I explained the trip she was going on with her mom and brother. They asked me a bunch of questions and I mentioned that she had a picture of them in her desk. They walked down with me and asked me to open the desk and show them where the picture was. So I did. They told me in an age appropriate way that her Mom wasn't supposed to have her, that she was supposed to be with her Dad and that her Mom wasn't in a good place to be around her. Apparently the Brother, who looked like an adult in the photo when I was a kid but I kind of remember being told he was 18, had tried to sign Kristy out. He went into the office (without her) asking to sign her out but he wasnt on the list of people allowed to do so, so he was told no. I guess that alerted someone in the office and they realized she was gone. I think the brother was a distraction? Because her Mom took her right off the playground. She never came back to class again. I didnt know if she was ok or kidnapped or alive until she randomly began going to my school again in high school, but by that point we never talked or saw each other, I just recognized her name in my yearbook freshman year but obviously I never felt comfortable going up to her and asking what happened back then
