Some advice from an old engineer. YOU SHOULD NEVER DIRECT COMPRESSED AIR AT YOUR SKIN! In extreme cases, pressurised air has been known to enter the bloodstream with undesirable consequences. You may get away with it but it's not worth the risk. Stay safe guys.

@@SamVBikes your welcome, not many people know this. The old engineer is my Dad, his career was spent working with hydraulics and pneumatics, among other things. I'm getting on a bit myself these days and he taught me so much about maintaining and repairing motorcycles.

Hi Sam I read somewhere that you shouldn’t use a compressor on an extension, that is why they have short leads. You should extend the air hose.

I realise you made this video 18 months ago but I was cringing when you were firing the compressed air at your hands. You should never do this as compressed could tear your skin creating a very painful and serious injury. Hopefully you've realised this since and no longer do it. How is the compressor doing by the way? I just bought the el cheapo Stanley one from Screw Fix but debating returning it (still unopened) and getting this one instead as it seems much better, twin gauges for a start, regulated and unregulated pressure. Has a 2.5hp motor compared to 1.5hp of the Stanley compressor. I'll be using it for pretty much the same stuff you are - bike tyres top them up or changing them. Might also use it to power a nail gun as I want to build another shed. You can't have too many sheds.

Haha yes I got a few people saying so! Compressor is still going strong, used it this past weekend to rust protect both mine and my partners bikes! It likes to keep pressure high so once you've dropped down a little pressure, the motor kicks in, so I tend to pressurise it, then turn it off until I need it. Runs for longer but lasts for a while before I need to turn back on

Great video, how loud is this in DB, could you use during the evening without annoying naibours?
@SamVBikes
4 жыл бұрын
I haven't ever measured the DB but it is quite loud. It pumps up then turns off until it needs more air so I dont think it would annoy neighbours too much unless you were using it all day!

@@SamVBikes I'm planning on adding a compressor to my garage at some point and have watched a very good podcast on making a sound deadening compressor box, whish made a huge difference. Worth it just to make it quieter to use in the garage.

Thank you! I'm going to redo my annual acf50 application with this soon so will do a vid when I do! It's got plenty of punch for it but my only reservation would be how good that spray gun is (because it was so cheap!). Will try to get it done in the next few weeks

Thank you! I haven't done yet! I got as close as going to buy the paint for it and ended up going with a spray can because... well... laziness haha. The compressor would definitely be up to it but I'd suggest getting a better spray gun. I'd assume the finish wouldn't be amazing on this one as it was part of a kit and cheap. Hope that helps

@@SamVBikes So what is the correct answer.... in vid you state not good enough for spraying need to go the the higher one ie 50 ltr and the answer is it's not really up to spraying
@SamVBikes
Жыл бұрын
The compressor is definitely up to doing it but it will be constantly running so you might want a bigger air capacity to stop the noise. Pretty sure I mentioned that in the vid... Also the comment above asks if its up to spraying clear coat on small parts, not spraying large items like bumpers or anything.

Just to tag on, done a little Googling .. suggestions are anything with a CFM (air flow) rating of 2.0 or above, with 4.0 or above for anything as powerful as a roofing nail gun. This is 9.6 CFM so plenty!
