Oh my gosh. You just described my husband. He is 62 and was diagnosed with PD at 60. His tremor is in his left arm and he has active nightmares, anxiety and cannot sleep past 4am. He was a farmer and a shift worker for 35 years. Levodopa has been helping with his tremor but not the dreams, joint pain or his anxiety. He just started taking CBD gel pills to sleep better and his ankle pain disappeared overnight. I’ll keep you posted on how and if it helps with his symptons. He just stated taking it 2 nights ago. 🤞

Oh my goodness. I am a woman, now 71 years old. Started w/ right hand and head tremor that I noticed in June, 2021. Nightmares started about that time too. Had MRI, CT, blood tests, then abnormal DaT Scan, Sept., 2021. Resting tremor started in R hand, Fall, 22. Diagnosed first w/ Parkinsonism, then w/ PD in 11/22. Having same disturbing scary dreams at last 1x a week. But so far, I am not reenacting my dreams. I sometimes only get 2-4 hrs of sleep, as I don’t go bak to slep after such dreams. I am working w a Neurologist/MDS, and am taking C/L I am also legally blind, and use a Guide Dog. Thank you for this useful information.

Hi,i live in the U.K and had Parkinson's since 2014.I knew hallucinations were a symptom but i did not have any.Last night i awoke absolutely drenched in sweat after having the most ridiculous dream that i won't bore you with.I am not a person who who goes on google looking up symptom list.I hoped this was just a one off but i see nightmares are a symptom.I am very uneasy about sleeping tonight,i hope it's not going to be a nightly thing. I hope you are well and coping ok.

My advise to anyone having this issue, find a few nonviolent, mundane audiobooks with a calming speaking voice. Listen to them every night while sleeping. Even if you get bored listening to the same thing. They give your brain a low-level input that keeps it occupied away from other thoughts it may create on its own. Another great option is "Unintelligible English" recordings made for sleeping.

Well, this couldn't be more timely as I had my visit with my Sleep Dr today and before I could say anything about dreams/ nightmares he brought the subject up. My oxygen falls at night and I am on 2.5 ml 02 I asked him how he knew about my dreams and he said it was because of Parkinson's and asked me if I had been having violent or intense dreams. I said yes and it has only been in the last few weeks. I am 58, I've had Parkinson's symptoms for several years but dx 2 yrs ago. I do have cognitive decline and I'd like to know what stage of Parkinson's I'm in? Since the dreams are intensifying, what follows this pattern, is it further mental decline? Ty for posting this info Dr Collins 👍
