Someone on Reddit pointed out that 2:58 (frame 16 hit) does not look right. I don't get hit until several frames after the axe passes through me! Looks like something fucky wucky is going on; maybe this is why some folks are having issues with parrying

Any plans to make a video for no shield parry frame? Would love to see a direct comparison between shielded and unshielded.

Great video and easily understandable. A hammer guy was kicking my butt repeatedly till the game suggested I parry lol. I still don't know what the little bar that fills over my character above health is for though.

okay, i saw these videos before. but how do they help me learn to parry? do i somehow count 4 frames in my head before hitting the parry button?

Is shieldless parry much worse in terms of active frames? Because I didn't like how that felt, though I didn't try it with a shield yet.

Well, this is the technical explanation of how parrying works. What the numbers tell you is more or less the following: a startup of 4 frames means the parry is extremely quick to activate. Then there is a 10 frame window where the parry “works” if the hit takes place within those 10 frames. However, the whole animation of a parry takes 35 frames. Half of that is recovery. This means that (as you probably have felt in game), that parrying is a significant commitment. Even is the active window, at almost a third of the totally animation time is generous, pressing too early in particular will leave you completely helpless for a good while before you be able to dodge

@@Voxiim great explanation thank you, i never played souls games just because of those mechanics but NRFTW will be the first one i give a go and try hard learning that parry. Guess i’m going to have to start dying to the same foe until i get the hang of it huh

Would be great if you could speak a bit louder, the volume for your voice is really low
