You guys make great videos and we can learn alot. When working on the cars I see you always using jack and jackstands moving around to get the car in the air. There is a portable jack system that's called QuickJack. Imo this would be MUCH easier to work with that you plug in the wall. Check it out and keep up the great work👍🏻

That would be very nice to have. There have been some things I’ve held back from getting simply because I want people to use what they will most likely have at hand. Maybe someday I will get that though. It would come in handy!

Danny, do you have any recommendations on whether to use an adjustable pivot ball stud, and if so how to set it without having to re-mount the transmission to check for correct adjustment? The issue I'm having is I'm eating throw TOB's too fast. They don't last but maybe 7K miles. Clutch is fine. I have a McLeod RXT. I was told that I need to install an adjustable pivot ball stud to correct this issue. Because the TOB is not being engaged smoothly. That the clutch fork geometry is off which is causing premature wear of the TOB. Do you have any experience with this?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have always heard of people needing the adjustable stud for the McLeod RXT. @Streetcar shenanigans did a video on setting it properly I believe. I have not needed one with factory clutch applications. Here is their video kzitem.info/news/bejne/mpx8vaOifahzeoo

Awesome vid. Im about to do my clutch. I have a question. Once you removed the trans crossmount and lowered the trans how much did you lower it? Until it stops? Did you loosen the motor mounts at all for it to drop like that? I would think it cant drop that much without bending input shaft unless you loosened motor mounts.
@dannyjohnsonsgarage
6 жыл бұрын
Lower it until you can get in there- and it won’t hurt the input shaft when lowering because it’s all still bolted together where the block meets the trans. You can only damage the input shaft as you’re sliding it out of the clutch. You can even let it hang until it stops- it’s only compromising the motor mounts
@lx347cid
6 жыл бұрын
Danny Johnson yes thanks makes sense. Duh i keep forgetting trans is still all bolted up to block when lowering it. Im surprised motor mount will flex that much by compressing it. Great vid!!!!

i hope this is an easy question, but I had to remove my engine and trans from my 03 cobra and i forgot to re-install the bellhousing bracket. Will this cause me problems in the future?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage
6 жыл бұрын
It should not. I recommended not replacing on the GT/Mach 1 since it’s a pain and gets in the way. It’s nice with the t56 since it’s easier to line up

Hey Danny, quick question. My 03 with 67 k on it just started making a noise when not engaged. Sounds like a hiss and gets louder when accelerating or slight rev. Then it goes away about 5 to 10 min of driving. Just wanted your thoughts. Thanks!
@dannyjohnsonsgarage
4 жыл бұрын
Mayjor Maynard If it goes away when the clutch pedal is pushed in it’s most likely the throw out bearing. They may quiet down a little when warmed up, but 67k is about normal for them to wear out

@dannyjohnsonsgarage

I reference the specs on the important ones (flywheel, pressure plate) but the bell housing and such are not as crucial and you won’t be getting a torque wrench on some of them like the starter anyway

Is there a major difference between this replacement and a 2001 Cobra with a TR3650?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage
5 жыл бұрын
The process is identical except the tr3650 does not come apart at the bell housing/transmission case, so the bolts only come off at the bell housing to engine location. Otherwise it’s the same process. I also have a video series on the tr3650, but as long as you know to take the bolts out only at the bell housing to engine location you will be fine. kzitem.info/news/bejne/tnyoloarq5F2ipg

CanAmRydr All except taking the transmission bolts of at the bell housing. For that you can see my other video series. It just needs long extensions that run the length of the transmission with a u joint attachment (drop the rear transmission mount first for best access). You’ll see it in this 4 part series kzitem.info/news/bejne/tnyoloarq5F2ipg

How much torque can the stock clutch handle before needing a stage2?
@dannyjohnsonsgarage
5 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how it’s used. My cobra is stock clutch with over 600 ft lbs, and starting to slip a bit. Let’s just say I have never dead launched the car on tire either. The main concern with the stock clutch is more on the transmission side. You’ll want to upgrade to a 26 spline input shaft when launching hard with anything more than an upper pulley (450rwhp)
@jamaalpoaches387
5 жыл бұрын
@@dannyjohnsonsgarage Ok cuz the clutch I have now assuming it's stock is slipping a little and rattling at low RPM acceleration. Just deciding replacing it with oem or an high performance clutch. I do have a smaller upper pulley and a hand held tuner but I don't really launch just mainly do accelerations from a rolling point when I need to . Thanks!
@dannyjohnsonsgarage

I’m not sure if you saw this, but the retainer sleeve is a good idea and you open it up to change the input shaft as well in case you’re interested kzitem.info/news/bejne/pqmXtXaFsmhom2k
