City of Santa Monica and green-building experts Nick Brown & Robert Fortunato discuss the new Zero Emission Building Code, which requires all new buildings to be fully electric, and how to create safer and healthier homes by swapping gas appliances for electric options in existing buildings.
This 4-hour workshop will cover all things related to building electrification in Santa Monica - including electric appliances (e.g. heat pump water heaters and inductions cooktops), electricity cost impacts, what to ask your contractor, and incentives to help fund these projects.
Why the emphasis on all-electric buildings? They are safer (lower chance of fire), cleaner (no indoor air pollution from gas stoves), and greener (significantly lower carbon emissions, particularly in Santa Monica where our power comes from renewable sources thanks to the Clean Power Alliance).
