An excellent rundown of Rivals mechanics! Also: for those interested in hearing more about the complexities of recovery in Rivals, Rottweiler recently put out a good video on the subject

15:02 basically, this game was built for me, got it. Overall, this is a really great tutorial, despite me having already played the game for a bit. I had to plug in a Playstation controller in order to stand on equal footing with others on my laptop, but I was able to give a few people online a good time using me as a punching bag before having the match either swiped off right under their feet or just be handed to them as a win.

Wow this is a great explanation of drift DI! Even the game didn’t do a great job explaining how it really works.

This is a really good overview, although as a fan of smash ledge mechanics + l-cancelling, a few of your comparisons came off as attacks on the games rather than strictly comparing them. Not sure that's something you wanna do in a video specifically for competitive smash players that already like their game. For ledge mechanics, it very much felt like you were underselling smash's ledge + recovery options while talking up Rival's. I personally love PM + melee's ledge game, and think there's plenty of mixups available. You were also showing some of the worst case examples in smash. So calling Rival's off-stage game more dynamic and unpredictable just felt wrong and disingenuous to me. I won't pretend Smash's ledge system is perfect, but I wouldn't call one better than the other. As for L-cancelling, I personally wouldn't even equate hitfalling with l-cancelling, so the comparison felt like you were just taking your chance to chime in on the l-cancel debate and shit on melee. Maybe a one off comment to clarify would be fine, but you even doubled back on it. Again, I won't say l-cancelling is amazing and should be in every game or something, but this very much came off as an unnecessary attack. For the most part this is a great video and does a great job of explaining + showcasing differences. But if your main audience is going to be competitive smash players, I'd be careful about potentially insulting their game while trying to talk up rivals.

This game is made for pros. Not casual-friendly. The tutorials are NOT easy if you aren't a Smash pro. Getting beat up by the tutorial over and over is demoralizing.
