I just received one of these chambered in .243 Winchester. I must have gotten lucky my trigger pull is 5 pounds and a little lighter on some pulls with the same gauge you have a Wheeler I believe. It is five pounds but I call it a soft five pounds it really doesn't hit a hard wall before it breaks and when it does it doesn't have much overtravel. I took mine out of the stock as well and tried the trigger screw with a hollow ground gunsmith flat bit and it didn't budge. I didn't heat it and I might take it to a gunsmith I know and see if he can disassemble it and lighten it but for now I'm leaving it alone I haven't even test fired this rifle. It took quite a bit of effort to just get the action screws out that trigger screw is intended to be left alone. I did torque the action screws at 60 inch pounds when I reassembled the rifle. I still need to borescope the barrel I cleaned it and the bolt when I got it and also applied some stock oil mine is a walnut version also. One thing should be done is lubricating the locking lugs on the bolt head especially when it's new. Just a tiny dab of grease on the lug surfaces is all you need just don't pile it on you don't want grease in the chamber.

Thank you for sharing this information. If I get one I'll probably either leave the trigger alone (not try to adjust it) or see if I can take it to a gunsmith. Or maybe someone will make a drop in trigger for it or mcarbo spring.

I’ve never seen so much oil dumped in a trigger. On the note of passing on information I’ve known a couple gun smiths over the years and with triggers when it comes to oil less is more especially in a sealed drop in style trigger. I’m very interested in the 334 I’ve never been a fan of other budget rifles mainly because of the ugly lines in the plastic stocks and flexibility but this is kinda like a walnut Patriot it’s very attractive 👍👍

I got a Patriot and I absolutely love it. You can get one with a synthetic stock and buy walnut for it later too since they sell them separately. That's what I want to do with mine.

Savage is great... they take the ATA Turqua... rebrand it as a Stevens... double the trigger pull weight and epoxy they trigger adjuster in place ... just so it doesn't quite class with some of their other guns. Nice!

Ya, that kinda bugs me when companies do that. I'll still take the 334 over the Axis 2 any day

Even though I already have a 308 I’m happy with I’d want to order this STEVENS if it wasn’t for the trigger, which is its only drawback I know of. Sure is a beautiful gun for being so cheap.

It certainly isn't the best trigger by any means, but I have definitely felt worse too. If you haven't already and are able to, definitely check it out for yourself and see what you think.

3rd video of same rifle without any actual shooting of group sizes anywhere....

I actually did film that video... But I did it on no sleep, and a lot of caffeine on an empty stomach. I was shaking worse than the Yellowstone Fault. Really wasn't a good representation of the gun shooting 6" groups at 100yds. I just haven't made it up to the long range again

@theidahorifleman hey they all can't be good shooters. Sometimes it takes a small fortune to find ammo it likes to shoot well

Before you buy one of these rifles, try and GET an extra mag for it. GOOD LUCK, I have tried everywhere, no one has them. NOT even Savage. 308, 243, 6.5 nothing.
