As described in the intro this part of the trip really wasn't one where we were concerned in any way about timing, we did a lot of stops for sight seeing and as you'll see I got tripped up by thinking I knew better than the Tesla Nav. As such it's not really useful for any comparison to an ICE vehicle. The Part 3 trip will be much better in that regard.
All in all it would have taken an extra hour than an ICE vehicle along this route, mainly due to it being so remote and with few options to combine good charging and food (particularly after 1830 in that part of the world it turned out).
Costs were only about 10-20% cheaper than what this leg would have cost in an ICE vehicle.
