The rubbing was the pedal trailer chain that had fallen off & was rubbing the tire. So glad that I stopped in time, before it caused a flat. I had no spare tube for the pedal trailer & it would've been a 3 mile hike out, or more if we had gone further before the flat. We decided to turn around & head back to the trailhead at that point. Always be sure to stop & check when you hear something that doesn't sound right.
