You have got to be the most inspiring modeller I have ever witnessed. Your methods are insanely genius, and the lengths you will go to ensure perfection continues to blow me away. You built a giant vaccuforming device. Wow. You are truly a master of the craft; I wouldn't be surprised if you had a degree in engineering because you clearly have a much deeper understanding of the mechanical aspects than most do. Keep up the great work Kurt!
@cudak888
2 жыл бұрын
You're too kind. Many of these methods may _look_ insanely genius, but were insanely overthought, and might not have happened if I *did* have an engineering degree (then again, there’s the joke that engineers overcomplicate things too). That vaccuformer, for instance, really doesn't need the jack assembly; turns out it pretty much should be fully extended. Could even do without the 12" deep lower box section, and if I rebuilt it right, I could orient it the correct way - upside-down with the heating elements over the plastic, and the form underneath.

I don’t think GWR is coming back. He left because Turtles said “nah not him” and since he was like a god to everyone else then, they just followed his lead and he left the Thomas fandom. That’s why turtles made that Thomas and Gordon goof video. He was mocking him.

The fun part is that was inspired by one of the failed 0.5mm vaccuforms. The actual buck weighs at least six or seven pounds and would _really_ hurt, but the failed vaccuform painted to match did the trick and weighed nothing (in fact, it needed a pencil taped to the bottom to fly correctly).

Work, other hobbies, and my stubborn desire to display *everything* on a set at the beginning and end of each video. This led to a number of years of both procrastinating and searching for cinema-quality grip stands (basically big tripods made for lights) to hold up a 10 foot by 30 foot backdrop. Turns out the darn thing won't stay upright with the slightest wind, so I'm actively saving up for a smaller, lighter backdrop made of Lycra. They're about $500, which is actually a nice improvement over the 30' backdrop (which weighs 30 pounds, cost $400, but necessitates five $300+ stands to hold it up (!)

Hey Kurt based om your camera knowledge do you think the CANON EOS 2000D with a 18-55MM IS II is a good starter camera. Or do you think there are better options out there?
@cudak888
Жыл бұрын
A neighbor just picked one up. That's the global version of what we get here in the US as the Rebel T7. Make sure you're getting a version with Canon factory warranty for your region - otherwise, what you're saving in cost can wind up biting you later on if you have to send it in for repairs. Consider trying to buy just the body of the camera if you can get a great deal, and then get the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS lens. I prefer the current nano USM version that supports the motorized Power Zoom Adapter (though I don't think the adapter is necessary) as it doesn't have aperture flicker if you change focal range while shooting video. If taking stills though, any variation will do. The T7/2000D with the 18-135 EF-S will be a perfectly solid workhorse that will do exceptionally well as a starter camera, and more besides. Alternatively, if you can find a good, lightly used Canon 7D Mark II body used, locally, do that with the 18-135. That's pretty much the pinnacle of EF-S body + lens tech, now that Canon has since moved away from it.
