And he probably doesn't realize how easy it is to tire out in jiu-jitsu or wrestling or boxing if you don't train in it. Its a good time getting stamina running a on a treadmill or even lifting weights at a gym listening to some favourite music, its complete 180 when someone is throwing you, putting knees in your side, punching, kicking, and constantly pressing on your sternum as they slip guard. Its amazing how someone who knows what they are doing just completely takes the breath out of a newbie, just by forgetting to breath let alone when the pressure comes on, its impressive and way underestimated how calming and prepared to defend is the usefulness of training in actively opposed martial arts that make up effective MMA.

The complete video tells a different story. They were just trying to stop their mate getting in a fight and leave, so yeah he most likely did by them. None of them tried to jump in while their mate was getting a beating. They let them fight one on one. The other guy only moved in when the MMA guy started soccer kicking their mate in the head when he was out. He then just randomly attacked them one by one. They could easily have all jumped him if they had bad intentions but they didn't. They were all chilled from the beginning. It was also the guy on his own that started it in the beginning by threatening the guy he beat up first, outside the club. He was the aggressor from the start. Shouldn't be on this list.

Self Defense applies to any situation. Likely, the MMA fighter was cleared of all charges on the first guy, but once he attacked the second guy, who was trying to break up the fight, he was likely hit with assault and battery at the very least. Edit: This is assuming that police were able to identify the fighter. If he wasn't very famous, and no one knew who he was, he may have gotten away with this entirely. And what year this occurred in, as advancements in technology(primarily the technology used by law enforcement) has come a long way in the past decade or so.
@seanwilliams480

Dexter Haven the law only allows one to defend himself. Once the aggressor stops aggressing, you have to stop as well. If you continue, you’re guilty of the same crime as the other guy. And if you’re a trained fighter you’re likely guilty of additional crimes. Someone attacking you isn’t license to beat them senseless. The law doesn’t work that way.

There was play fighting on the part of both of them. If I recall correctly, there were a few moments when Hafthor had a decent chance to actually hurt Connor, but the majority of the time it was obvious that Connor was the cat and Hafthor was the mouse. And Hafthor doesn't have the stamina for that kind of matchup, which is why he "conceded" at the end of their session. It looks funny given the size difference, but unless Connor messed up bad, he'd win that fight. Of course, if he managed to get him self caught by Hafthor ... I do wonder just how strong you'd have to be to counter an armbar with brute strength alone, and what weight class the "offender" has to be. I doubt anyone's getting out of an armbar by a heavy weight, but how about a flyweight?

@seraphinaaizen6278
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. While I generally think that size isn't a big enough advantage for an untrained person to fight a professional fighter and that the pro-fighter will still knock them out easily, Hafthor is just TOO big. He's actually so huge, I don't think that Conor is physically capable of injuring him. The difference in weight and body density is just too massive. Even a direct shot to the head probably isn't going to harm him. You can train to fight a lot of things. But you can't train to beat the laws of physics. They always win.
@seraphinaaizen6278
4 жыл бұрын
@@tantofirewater6707 If. There are a couple of things to consider, though. The first being that if Hafthor gets a hold of him, the fight's over. Hafthor is just too big and strong to grapple with, and he could easily snap a man Connor's size in half and there's nothing Connor could do about it. Two: Conner is not physically capable of landing a hit that's going to injure a guy that size. He can't beat the laws of physics. In a points based match where Hafthor isn't allowed to simply kill Connor, then yes, Connor could possibly win provided he kept his distance. Hafthor would eventually tire and Connor could start striking and scoring at will. But even in that environment, Connor's still got a big disadvantage because if Hafthor manages to close on him it's still going to over. Because superior grappling ability doesn't help against a guy who can fold any of your limbs in half with one hand. Or he could pick Connor up and throw him to the ground with enough force to knock him out cold and/or cause him permanent injury.
I learned mma for a little over a year, definitely far from a pro but speaking from my experience... The problem with fighting against a giant isn't the fact I cannot physically injure him Being bigger in size doesn't mean being invulnerable to damage Being smaller in size doesn't mean no punching power Punching power comes from the efficient use of muscles (like ur core), the size comes second, which is why even though Bruce Lee looked so skinny, he could do that 1 inch punch with so much power, efficient use of muscles right there. Also, u can just repeatedly hit the same spot (eg: side of the knee) til it swells and it would definitely slow down or disable ur opponent If one punch doesn't work, do 10, if its not enough, do 100, it will eventually break if u keep at it (EG: kzitem.info/news/bejne/raaixWutcV-bh3o this fight where Rick Roufus ate so many low kicks in his leg he couldn't even stand in the end) The biggest problem in my opinion, is really just the REACH If I'm Conor, landing hits will be hard becuz Hafthor can just hit my face or shove me off before I get close enough. U can see from the original video when Conor was trying to grasp the distance with his lead hand, he was met with little success becuz Hafthor could punch him anytime while he was still trying to figure out the distance (he missed his cross moments after, a punch from the rear hand) 2nd problem is: Hafthor is not throwing useless strikes, hes grappling and locking Conor Conor will have a hard time getting Hafthor on the ground or clinching with him becuz he is so much bigger, so he has to strike with punches or kicks but Hafthor is preventing Conor from striking effectively Another problem is I dont think MMA fighters are often trained in fighting against ppl of a very different weight class, so this is probably something new to Conor Ur point on Hafthor picking Conor up and throw him to the ground also makes sense. It is not very often seen in MMA fights becuz the fighters are in the same weight class, but Hafthor can definitely do that with Conor Btw, watched the original vid, idk any back story of it but it doesnt look like a serious fight Remember: a fight is very dynamic/chaotic, the specific "if"s dont really happen or happen in a very different way
@ssjonupants
4 жыл бұрын
@JMFS Clearly don't understand the difference in size. A punch from Conor would likely do little to no damage on a frame like his. You need to understand strength as well. Hafthor could literally grab him by the wrist, squeeze and break the bones in his hands. I understand the popular view of "he's a professional", doesn't actually matter. That's like saying Floyd Mayweather could beat up Hafthor because he is a pro boxer. The answer is no, Floyd doesn't have enough weight and strength to do any real damage. Same with Conor, a man of Conor's size being grabbed and bear hugged by Hafthor would be crushed to death.

That guy who fought Schockman looks like he's had exactly zero boxing classes but owned a heavy bag at home which he beats up regularly and therefore thinks he's invincible. How many times did he respond to getting punched by turning his back and curling up into a standing fetal position? I don't think that guy had ever sparred in his life. Although the one that really gets me is that last one. How on earth did a promoter even allow that to happen? That's indistinguishable from letting some random person from the crowd in to fight a trained fighter and getting absolutely pummeled. That girl doesn't look to have ANY training, and whoever the hell is enabling what is probably some kind of delusion on her part really needs to stop.

SUPER agree on your last point. It's fine for beginners to have big dreams, but a fight promoter has a responsibility to not let a totally unprepared person into a fight. That's just cruel.

If a drunk guy's friend tries to stop the fight before it happens, he's clean. But if he only wants to stop the fight _after_ his friend starts losing, might as well hit him too.

She's also going to end up with serious brain damage, getting knocked out is no joke! If she keeps up this losing streak she'll be a vegetable by here tenth fight.
