Just glad you didn't get with the church of scientology. My husband left them in 1989. Few years later we met and got married. In 2006 they started calling him and sending flyers. After about a year of asking and threatening them to leave us alone...they stopped. 2013 we started getting mailings again. Still get 2-3 mailings a week. 🥴😡

I think that a lot of people raised Christian are told that atheism means you hate god/you turned your back on god but it literally translates to "without belief in gods". It'd be like saying christians are mad at Zeus. Of course you're not mad at Zeus you just don't think he's real, same way I feel towards every religion. No disrespect intended on people who do believe in god/gods, I just think more people ought to be aware of what it means to be atheist.

I agree. But I think the concept comes from the angry atheist type stereotype. A lot of Christians meet the bitter atheist with religious trauma who do fully hate the church and God as a concept. Mennonites as well as most of the Amish are works based salvation religions. The elders will determine the rules for the group, so there is almost endless variations on what is acceptable and not acceptable to the various groups. There is one sect of the Amish called the Beachy Amish Mennonites which do abide by Calvinistic (monergistic) theology. They are very much in alignment with the bible and are far more liberal than other Amish in the sense that faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ is the key is what's important. They drive cars, use machines in their work, and do not live by a lot of nit picky unbiblical traditions and rules . Personally I take the bible as the gold standard authority for the Christian life, and it teaches that faith is a gift from God given to His elect. People who's names He wrote in the 'lamb's book of life before the foundation of the world'. People chosen by God for salvation due to nothing they provide or bring to the table. Salvation isn't earned. It's a free gift from God to His chosen. The bible never explains why one person is chosen and another is not. It's not because one person is better than another. We're all sinners.

Nate. You had the seed planted, you let it grow. At some point out got choked out by thorns. He never hated you. He tried to reach you. He tried to teach you. It's very hard. People think that when they get saved and they feel the holy spirit, they think they'll be perfect from then on, but that's not how it works. We are still not perfect. We still have a harder time because we're committed. God bought you to it he'll bring you through it . You have to keep focusing on him. Keep talking and focusing on him, not your troubles. Not your thoughts. Don't let your thoughts win. Thoughts are intrusive and of the world, usually from Satan. You'll know when it's God. If it's manipulation, lies, fear, anxiety, it is NOT God. He always loved you, do not lie to yourself!!! Been there done that! What a waste. I wasted most of my life because i didn't get it. All those times i had no one. No family. Though married, not even my husband. I was a single mother though married. It sucked. Hard man. So painful. But through that Jesus was there too, i just lost faith. But. We're still sinners, we're not perfect even if we make it through a whole year without sinning. We are still human after all. Stop being so hard on yourself. I did that my whole entire life until several years ago. I see myself as a person now too. That deserves love and truth. No more lies

I was raised Catholic, and they weren't weird when my family eventually quit going to Sunday Mass. I am also a person who needs things to make sense, and when catholics told me that gay people weren't inherently "sinful", but if they ever lived their lives actively as a gay person, they'd be in sin. And I couldn't square that with the rule of "god doesn't make mistakes." To me, that meant gay people couldn't possibly be in the wrong, because why would God make people who are inherently 'wrong.' It didn't make sense to me, it started to sound like some bs a human made up, rather than anything god told humans to believe. They also told me my mom was going to hell because she's an astrologer, so I was like "I think I don't really care about your rules or dogma, actually." I was like 13.

1)Motorcycle driving test: I pull up, told to take 1 warm-up lap around the parking lot and return back for the cone weave test. I tore ass around the lot at full throttle. I was told by the examiner to repeat my warm up lap at 10% throttle or I'd fail even before the actual exam.. I guess I was a little excited. 2)Atheism: Lack of belief gods exist. You may not have been an atheist if you believed a god didn't like you. That would mean you still believed in gods, but it was a jerk. You might have still been a theist.

This is so interesting to hear about Calvinism. During highschool I transitioned from "Christian" (never went to church and just used the label because my mom did) to Athiest the same type of thinking you had just a different conclusion.

It's an incorrect one. I became a Born Again Christian from witchcraft (actively practicing for over 15 years) three years ago. From what I've heard of Calvinism I don't agree with it at all on some of the tenets of it, especially the predestination thing. It's not biblically correct (I've read the Bible all the way through 3 times)

@Be_An_Esther Do you mean his interpretation of Calvinism is incorrect, or do you think Calvinism in general is incorrect? I did some quick Google searches, and he seemed to be involved with a smaller group of Calvinists (the god loves selectively doesn't seem to be a widespread Calvinism belief). If you disagree with the Calvinism belief in general, so do, but I'm an atheist, as I initially said. I don't think he's wrong for having those beliefs in the past. I just don't agree with those beliefs.
