Blender may not be the program for texture painting everything, but you have to admit that the fact that blender can even do it is impressive. It's such a versatile tool.

Just want to say for anyone doing this now: there's a much easier way of getting all of the UV islands colored. After unwrapping the UVs for certain part and arranging them onto your base image, you can set the material to your base under Layout, and then you can go back to the Texture Paint window. After that, you can then select the paint bucket and click on the corresponding area on your model, and it should fill all of your UV islands instead of needing to color them in manually. If you're going to work in some program other than Blender to do the texture painting, I would recommend setting each part -- Bodice, eyebrows, eyelashes, head, etc -- to a separate color so you can easily have individual layers for each. I.e. set the bodice to blue, eyelashes to green, and so on. That way at a moments glance you can color select in your image editing program and have each be a separate layer.

In Blender if you are textute painting, open Active tools (press N by default) >Brush Settings > Falloff > Constant. That way you can draw with sharp edges.

I’m creating a humanoid bunny with questionable proportions and so far, your videos have helped me a bunch despite my creation being totally different than your example! I am getting confused with the seaming for my bunny but I’ll probably figure it out :,) Do I seam half of the head and ears or do I seam a certain line? Other than that, thank you so much for your great tutorial :D

Question Sensei: I did all the UV Unwrapping post applying the mirror modifier. Will that be alright for painting? I know it's less taxing for the pc to use those UVs but either way my texture size is 2048x2048. I believe you can still texture paint with mirror mode, right? Otherwise I'll go back and redo that part. I just rather have the whole model uv unwraped so when I paint I organize my UVs better and paint details on different sides. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer! :D

You can separate into different textures using different materials in the same model to maximize image quality in your model, and also apply a mirror modifier before unwrapping if you don't want symmetry on the textures.

is it a problem if I rendered the texture image after modifing it into krita as a jpeg? I don't know if it's just me, but blender loads png files way darker and less saturated than the original...

What does it mean I did wrong if it transports all the vertices in the UV editing tab into one big triangle, and then a bunch of tiny triangles if you try to unwrap it?

I'm using a model made by someone else and it isn't human, but every time I try to take my unwrapped images to the texture paint the image doesn't show up. I'm also inputting the image with the unwrapped models, but it just doesn't show up. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or is the model just weird?

My UV unwrap hasn't went smoothly. Admittedly I've not followed all your steps I wanted a low poly old school rpg look but followed along for the most part. I don't know if it's because I was modeling in a different axis or not. Should have paid more attention.

At 19:10 you said to type '-1' after clicking S and then X but when i type -1 in blender it just picks up the '1' and not the minus so nothing changes. Am I doing something wrong? I want to make sure it has flipped correctly.
