Strength of nail extension should be coming from the actual structure and engineering of the nail extension... As in...The apex placement adjusted for the exact length of your nail extension... And the C- curve .. these are what give strength to the nail. Whether a gel extension, an acrylic extension, or any product and that is with it without a tip being used. It has nothing to do with the thickness of the product... A square nail shape can be very strong as long as it has the proper apex height and placement and a good C curve. Sadly many nail techs are not taught the really important Info anymore.. it's engineering, architecture and medicine... Then design and colour theory... As someone who has been in the field for too many decades to even fathom these days and someone who has taught classes in many countries, it makes me sad how many ppl think it's just slapping on whatever, filing it down, especially with an electronic file... Having no real control over the products, especially acrylic, not any understanding of the correct mixing and control of the monomer to the powder! Beautiful art on a crap nail is still a crap nail. If you are having lifting... I am guessing you mean at the cuticles? Because that's what lifting refers to... How are nails prepped? There are PH issues that should be corrected before most products to help with adhesion, and then either a non acid primer, or an acid primer to "etch" the nail... Filing should be done to the natural nail as well.. not the free edge but the actual surface of the nail... Not to smooth it but to make micro fissures for better adhesion... All oils, creams and products should be removed before hand as well... Then the questions have to do with your life style... Your lifestyle should be asked about by a properly trained tech... Do you do dishes by hand or the dishwasher.. do u prewash or rinse the dishes before hand... Do you do any hand laundry... Etc... Do you swim often, is it a natural body of fresh water, the ocean or a chlorinated pool... The tech should then adjust the products used to give you the best experience. If you have lifting within the first week? Or at 3 weeks ? How many lift? All of that should be taken into account by a qualified and well trained nail tech. Have a great day.

Oval makes my nails, which grow into a downward curve, crack faster. Square Oval does the best for me for retention. The thinner the edges are, the more fragile the nail. However, I do not use any type of builder gel or polish so I'm sure the extra thickness and building up the apex would keep them strong

It's different when you are using gel. Gel removal requires 100% pure acetone which is different from the acetone you use to remove regular polish. It also requires soaking which means longer exposure/contact of acetone on the nail bed than regular polish removal.

And if I get stiletto nails I look like a velociraptor 😂 I've always been curious about an almond, square, squovel or similar shape but I dont wanna spend 40 quid getting my nails done to have nails I hate for 4 weeks 😅 (I'm in the uk, it costs a minimum of 30 gbp for acrylic nails in a plain colour and 45 gbp and up for acrylic nails with detail such as hand painted images or gems etc and I'm lucky that my nails grow slow so I've been able to go 4 to 8 weeks before needing infills)
