Louie Shelton. One of the greatest guitar artists ever.

Its a wonderful thing that Louis Shelton came to LA,and got the opportunity to play on demo recordings and then playing sessions. I for one feel he's the real deal and has the chops to prove it !

Cassidy was a gifted singer, and smart enough to know the cats that would be backing him were the best.

You're a living legend Louie! But what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but lose his soul? God is real, so get to know Him and His son Jesus Christ!

A raw deal at both ends. David "wanted" to play guitar and the session musicians don't get the credit they deserve at the time. It's still happening today with these manufactured pop stars being backed by session players. It sickens me.

Session players made good money. If they didn't they would go on tour with a band. I know master woodworkers who create beautifully carved inlays and wall panels for rooms like libraries or law offices. The rooms get in magazines but no mention of him and the work is unique. Being paid is better than not being paid I guess.

And who gets money on intellectual property? Stupid. This video is s little short changed too because I’d love to hear what the session guys think. Cassidy was a good player in his own right.

There's some good youtube video interviews with Louie Shelton. Seems like a super nice, humble guy. Financially, he did more than alright. A lot of his early session work was paid per 3-hour slot (but at a very good rate for those days), and later it sounds he made pretty big money making royalties (he mentions a 125,000 Dollar check in the early 1970s, still at the relative start, and said he paid 40,000 for his house, as a reference point). I think for many of these guys it's also about the lifestyle. Not everyone wants the itinerant, degenerate rockstar lifestyle. Pete Carr, another session great, says as much in a youtube interview. Why not just make great money, have a more regular lifestyle, work during the day, and have the world's greatest artists come to you to work with? It would also appeal more to me than live the life of say, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Rolling Stones...

Cassidy was an ok guitarist but compared to Carlton and Shelton I guess his playing was viewed as insignificant.

But you can be excellent and still not in the league of Shelton or Carlton.
