Hi Ben... maybe you could do something with your Mower Diff Unit like a brush Hog with blades that are not welded or bolted but more of a swing arm type unit..A bolt that allows it to swivel with a thicker blade like a flat bar with an edge..In case of rocks and heavy vegetation..

Good thinkin on the cutters on that diff Ben. I was gonna suggest a series of sprockets or guides with chainsaw blades but that might be too involved. What about chainsaw blades between the lawnmower ones but have the chainsaw blades about an inch to an inch 1/2 below the lawnmower ones for secondary cuts . Just weld a solid rod or a series of rebarb down the center with the chains swinging😅..that'll probably hold

Use chain like from old snow tire chains, take off the tread cross links and use the side chain part,, did that to my weed eater that used to have 3 plastic blades, now it has 3 links of snow chain on each of the blade pivots, no more plastic blade crap and the string trimmers are junk.. works great around fences, t post and rocks,, bounces right off the tires around the parked row of collected TREASURES.. lol

My favorite gloves (carpenter, mechanic) are the atlas or showa nitrile 370? They also help with fatigue. Because your grip is way better. Very sticky around the drill and impack tho. And the thicker 451 gray ones are great in the cold. Love the vids!!!

I use gauntlet welding gloves for anything where protection matters fire/gardening/weding ect because they’re good cheap and durable, u’d probably take a size 9, how about cow catcher style blades on the front of the mower to push large rocks out of the way or at least stop them from getting under the mower, all the best, love your content from the uk!

Murrie, I have a glove suggestion for you!!!! I was an electrician up until about 3 years ago, and I always preferred Maxiflex 34-8443 gloves (Those are for the xl's, it's a different product # for each size though so pay attention when ordering them). They're Cut resistant, lightweight, and you can actually handle small screws, nuts & bolts, etc. PLUS if the get nasty, you can throw them in the washer and they don't seem to shrink or lose any of their cut resistance.

For your mower try rigging up something like they use on brush hogs. the blades pivot so if you hit something they just give way and don't damage as easily. I have them on my brush hog and I would hit rocks twice the size of those and it wouldn't do any damage

Good Morning Yall, As for your lawnmower blades if you put a short plate on dif. and bolt blades to it where they are free floating so when you hit the blade will float around the rock or what ever you hit it with, like a bush hog.
@ZootSuitCooter
3 ай бұрын
Yes, the blades need to pivot. Might be better to just install a complete bush hog blade assembly if he can find one cheap. Trouble is, to get a decent shredder cut you need a PTO speed of 600-850 RPM. Not sure how fast that dif set-up is spinning but I'm willing to bet it's not fast enough.

I used to use an old chainsaw blade attached to two pieces of 3/4" plywood I cut out for the center to hold the sections of chain. Try cutting circles out of steel due to rotational forces around 24 inches and sandwich the pieces of chain around 8 to 12 inches long using good hardware. That should give you a shot at cutting grass and not being bent on rocks and with the center being that big less wrapping grasses around, maybe.

BEN, maybe try this idea for the "tow behind mower". 1. Flip the DIF over so it points UP! 2. Attach a large pully to the pinion shaft. 3. Run a belt forward to a much smaller pulley driving a spindle Shaft. 4. Now mount a much larger Blade Forward of the trailer Tires. 5. make some sort of belt tension adjuster so thte belt will only slip when you hit something BIG like a huge ROCK! 6. You will have much higher tip speed making a better cutting action and a better cutting action. !! Much love and good wishes from a retired Submarine Sailor.

For gloves nothing beats the yellow Hardy PVC coated gloves from Harbor Freight. They are my go to for metal roofing and siding. They may even have them in a cut resistant version as well. For all around use when grip isn't important I use their white knit gloves. These types of gloves are what we've used for a long time, way before Harbor Freight was around.
