I stopped going to Party City a couple about 3 years ago when I found out that you can get a lot of stuff from Dollar tree including helium balloons for $1 compared to $6+ at Party City

I never understood how the business model worked to begin with. How is there such demand for costumes and balloons that can support a big-box retailer store footprint?
@matayahill3608

Their prices is the reason! Everything there can be found elsewhere for MUCH cheaper!! Dollar store Walmart…Amazon. If I want to put together a small kids party…it’ll cost $150 vs $30

No, they make valuation more reasonable. It's hard but it's how efficient market work. Capitalism at it's core.

Interesting, I remember seeing this stock for a $1 last year and metrics during that time said undervalued but I didn’t like that their operating income and cash flow were negative so I knew it was a huge risk. Now it’s trading at cents and metrics changed it to overvalued.

I for one like Party City - they had lot of niche stuff that is hard to find anywhere else. I do think prices could be little more competitive. I also think they should specialize in party stuff/decor only. They tend to over-stock themed stuff during holidays which all other retailers also have and is not the best use of their store imo.

The only problem with large specialty retail stores like Party City is an extreme proclivity for overpricing their items. We NEED specialty retailers that aren't overpriced!

Never understand the business model in the current world, they rely on festivities ( carnival,Halloween,Easter) and must stuff you can find in supermarket or Chinese stores.

The Canadian operations of Party City were bought before the pandemic by Canadian Tire. The chain operates standalone stores as well as store in store concepts inside most Canadian Tire stores across the country. Would have been interesting to hear this side of the story as it's helping Party City standalone stores as they can now carry more merchandise typically found inside Canadian Tire, and the Canadian Tire stores with a party city store inside them are finding new consumers thanks to the expanding selection of goods

Bad channelstore, inventory and debts management. Pricing woulf be depending on marketing segments there is no right or wrong. You wiuld bet the CEO cut off the salary to $1 to save / revive first all the above problems / disruption..also for voting in Byeden.
