OMG the 'ask your father, he is right there' really got me. I say that SO MANY TIMES to my kids

My son will walk straight past me and go to my wife for the slightest thing. He'll ask me ," where's mummy?" " Out is the shed, garden , kitchen etc, etc. He looks for her and asks her for something that he could very well ask of me. It drives her mad..." your father is right there you know "... to which he once replied " yes i know, but you do it better than daddy". Gee thanks...

Haha. At 2.30 pm I rang my 32 yo single daughter so she could say happy Mother’s Day to me. “Oh yer, happy Mother’s Day”. Totally slipped her notice. Oh well. On the other hand, if she hears something about me such as a medical issue from someone else it’s “why didn’t you tell me! I have to find out everything from someone else!” Can’t win. Sigh. That’s a mother’s lot. Maybe she will become a mother herself one day and then we will see.

Mothers Day 2024. I organised outing to local beauty spot. I made the starters and dessert and a cake saying 'Love you mum' on it. Thought they'd find it funny. And organised bbq food for Mr to cook on day. I loaded my car, filled my car with petrol and drove me and Mr to beauty spot. I unpacked car and set up the spread. Adult offspring all arrive late, go to Mr to ' assist with barbecuing' (4 manboys and Mr at barbecue, mum left shooing flies, wasps and a rogue magpie away whilst slowly getting drunk on bottle of wine on my own) Hunter Gatherers return with burnt meat. They all ignore the startes, fill up on BBQ, hoe into cake without any comment about the message on top. Spend all the time talking footy and squabbling. Praise dad for a great picnic. Then leave to go to partners' families. All 4 Text me variations of the following message when they get home "Oh btw Happy Mothers Day. Sorry forgot to buy a present really busy atm" Ho hum. Oh and yes I did all the washing up when we got home. 🤔🤨😒🙄😶 In my next life, they are washing their own sweaty sports clothes dammit.

Lol I got jewellery for Mother’s Day… that I chose and paid for myself (#single mother life) And a two day old cupcake with half the icing melted that my son made at school (which I shared with him) and a laminated picture of flowers that was coloured on (yes on, not in, he is little). But my son was the star of the day as it was also his 7th birthday, so we went out for ice cream, opened presents and I made him a caution wet floor birthday cake. Was a great day 🥰

Many of those typical answers are there to the fact that women still marry grown-up men from outside but boys inside and mothers keep raising princes instead of future kings. So sad to hear many of the answers.

@dirkhaar2243 well the baby is incapable of understanding the concept of mothers day at this age and it is tradition for the partner to plan and provide the Mothers Day activities and gifts until the children are of an age to do so themselves. The same happens in reverse for Fathers Day, where the Mother will plan the activities and gifts for the father during the early years.

I keep throwing out those ugly, odd-ball coffee cups. I mean, how many coffees can a woman drink in a day? Oh well, fathers day to look forward to - another child-sized frisbee from the school stall and 'volunteered' childcare duties. SMH

So incredibly on point Question - "what do you want?" Answer- "nothing" Real answer- "vast quantities of stuff that I am not going to tell you about so that I can look down on you for not giving me what I want". This starts early in a females life and continues right through motherhood.

Generally good communication, love and respect from each other is healthy in a relationship. Each party is responsible, not just the “female”
