Those were good days. In 1971 I rode an excursion round trip New Orleans to Hattiesburg, ms.behind number 722 pictured here. The next year I rode another similar excursion behind number 4501. The year after that they double headed those two engines and I chased them with a camera. Later that year I rode shay number 4 at Cass, WV. Then drove back south through South Carolina and saw the Edgemoor and Manetta shoreline, which still had steam power. They had and old 0-4-0 tank loco and the sharpest curves and one old textile mill that they served. They interchanged with the SCL ( ACL) three miles away. Thanks for triggering some memories.
