What I like about GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY is they are one of the few with new owner willing to make a bow in kids draw at the hunting weight for those adults and older kids at teen age who need a bow like this due to the size of the persons draw being around 24 inches. One of the few doing this for people and not making a 26 inch draw as the lowest draw but actually making the kids bows in hunting weights with weights, I think are better North Amercian big game Deer Turkey size at 40+ pound or even bigger Elk sized game at 45 pounds, so smaller adult/older teen archers can use bows like this. This is important as hunters who have small draw do not have bows that size for them ready on the market, like me needing the Youth bows. Oh, I could have looked for a bow made ready but few if any left hand bows (left eye dominate) were available in wood at 55--60 pounds to get a 45 pound at my 24.5--25 inch draw, this is why I have a 45 pound Youth Longbow in hickory for a few years down the road when I am ready to hunt, I have a bow I can use. I love the universal notched grip as fewer companies and bowyers make a notched universal grip going with more a light to mild contour on a notched grip making the bows less usable to unusable depending on contour by the other persons draw. Bear Archery is probably one of the last making a grip like this on the bow as is St Patrick Longbows you can ask for this grip, but you have to ask as most want a bow in the light--mild contour notched grip they make.

Outstanding history, commitment and passion for your products. I did a hell of a lot of research when looking for a bowyer and the Great Plains company just stuck out as exceptional service and products.

Excellent Video! Thank you for sharing! It is pretty obvious that you both have a love and passion for traditional archery. What Bill started is in great hands with you, Shane. You own and run a company that will always be successful. Your reputation grows each day due to your dedication, work ethic and the quality of bows that you produce. I have been in the archery business a long time and even though we have never met and I just ordered my first bow from you, I can see a winner in you and that your business will continue to grow and prosper. Bill made a great choice when he sold you the company!

Good to see that Bill is still with us. Spoke to him several times about 30 odd years ago when he was building bows down in Pampa Texas.

This is awesome to see the back story. I started a bow business 1.5 years ago, and like Shane said it takes a while for people to get to know you and your craftsmanship.

This will probably not be received as well as I would hope but here goes… what about designing and building a custom recurve CROSSBOW? Love your channel and what you’re doing, thank you!

I really enjoyed this video! I am from Borger Tx. and enjoyed shooting 3- d events and visiting with Bill at the Canadian River Archery & Gun Club. Bill is still the same pleasant and knowledgeable person I remember from years ago. I am proud that you are carrying on the tradition of the Great Plains Archery Company!
