Unfortunately, LOTS of things have lost respect in America over the past 50 years, NOT "JUST" teachers (and truthfully, SOME of the "lost respect" for teachers has been caused by the teachers themselves -- and, as a former teacher myself, I can speak this truth with authority !) Some of these shows are pretty bittersweet...Barbara Eden proudly mentions her 13-month-old son toward the beginning of the show, telling the contestant about him after he tells us that he has a 15-month-old daughter. I didn't cheer for her, she didn't give good clues or guessed weirdly. For instance the clue was 'shorthand' Barbara gave it as 'Greg', what? I felt bad for her partners.
@timothyjholloway
2 жыл бұрын
@@jennross6466 Well, I found the spot where she says that, 11:56, then looked it up and found a Wikipedia article titled "Gregg shorthand": en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gregg_shorthand It's a form of shorthand invented by John Robert Gregg in 1888. Maybe back in the 60s, before computers became so commonplace, shorthand and shorthand training were much more common and people were educated on its different forms. If you were the first to try to give a clue, would you be able to come up with anything better? Nothing comes readily to mind for me and how in one word could you suggest it? Oh. She could have said "stenography". That might have been better. She did use her hand to imply writing. Honestly, it's a bias toward Barbara Eden, not how well she plays. I find her very lovable. And, if you look up her life story, you may find it so heartbreaking that seeing her happy like this before any of that stuff happened makes you a little extra sad and happy for her. I think she's a good person with an exceptionally good heart. She was pregnant with her first and only child during the first season of I Dream of Jeannie. Her and her husband had been trying for years and she assumed she wouldn't be able to play the role, but she was irreplacable and they hid it by filming above her stomach. After I Dream of Jeannie, she got pregnant again and since her husband's career hadn't taken off like hers, she worked again, only this time she was travelling around. Her son got bitter that he didn't get to see his mom, something I blame the father for, then she miscarried, though back then, they made you carry it to term, so she probably got a lot of keenly unwanted but well-intentioned attention from strangers asking about the baby and the due date. Apparently, the miscarriage caused a rift between her and her husband that ended in divorce ~ again, I blame the husband for letting her work then possibly blaming her when she miscarries. And I guess her only child wanted to stay with Dad instead of her. Well, starting with marijuana, little Matthew began doing drugs at maybe 12 because a neighbour was growing it in their yard. It wasn't until 19, when Eden found he wasn't enrolled in college anymore, that he was found to have started doing serious drugs, only his parents couldn't do anything to stop him because he was an adult. Imagine Barbara Eden, this same happy person playing Password, trying not to enable her son's drug habit by helping him materialistically while not being able to stand not knowing where he is because she's got such a good heart. He died of a drug overdose two months before his 36th birthday, in 2001. I guess he'd been doing well for two years and some newer version of heroin made him OD at the wheel of his car. Here's a clip of her after her son died: kzitem.info/news/bejne/w6qwsW2NoaGdeII As you can imagine, it makes me angry with Charles Gibson to see how he made her cry. But Connie Chung's interview of her on 20/20 makes me a lot angrier: kzitem.info/news/bejne/rmaZwKKMjKlnpm0 It's just.... It makes me happy... and sad... to see her so happy... and still seemingly so innocent... and grateful for what she has.
